I hop and reel slowly. Pretty much moving the weight like a jig.  Any better techniques?  What should I be doing?

Thanks to all.

I drag it, and pause.  The hits always seem to come at the pause.

Working the weight on a Carolina rig doesn’t help other then preventing the weight from snagging. Best results is a bottom drag to keep the soft plastic moving to detect any strikes.

As much as I don't want it to be, the c-rig is is one my my most successful techniques when it comes to the dog days of summer with the sun high in the sky.  Bass in my local lake have move into 15'+ of water and skittish in the clear water.

Dragging in to known structure is approach one.  Fish usually will take on the pause and at times needs to be fished painfully slow.

Working a the deeper sides of points can generate action and allow you to cover more of the bottom then other soft plastic techniques.  Also if wind is make bite detection hard using other techniques, the c-rig can come through in a pinch to help remain in contact with the bait.

Targeting the deeper outside edge of grass can also be successful.  Strikes often come when the weight or bait pops free from sparse grass.

It's not the most enjoyable bite, but has brought several limits of fish to the scales when plan A didn't work out.

On my local lake just down the road.

I drag the weight 2 to 5 feet,  then I move the boat forward and try to pull the weight out of the rocks it wedged between.  ☹️

I look for submerged humps out in deeper water.  I will either anchor over the top of the hump, or at the bottom of it and then drag the bait up or down the side of the hump.  Not my favorite way to fish, but it works.

I like a low sweeping drag to the side maintaining bottom contact with the weight.the hits come on the pause.

Dragging, using a sideways sweep, followed by a pause as you recover line.

I like to keep tension on the line as I recover to maintain contact with the weight.

My hookset uses the same sideways sweep only faster and reeling at the same time.
