ducksbuddy Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Hey I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on a good rod and reel set up for 6 inch soft Hollow body swimbaits? Examples being small working class Zero battle shad? Also smaller hollow body swim baits using beast hooks? Thanks in advance guys! Quote
Super User FishTank Posted May 9, 2022 Super User Posted May 9, 2022 I have tried a couple since the 6in Magdraft came out, which is about 1.25oz. It was too light for the big swimbait rod I have and almost too heavy for a Heavy rod. So a few weeks ago I picked up a Megabass Valkyrie 7'1" Heavy. It goes up to 2oz. It will cast a Magraft like a jig. It's truely amazing. I can skip under docks, I can bomb cast it a long way with this rod and it's got just enough flex so that big bait doesn't feel fatiguing. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 9, 2022 Super User Posted May 9, 2022 Any good 7’ MHF jig and worm rod combo will work OK. Line, I prefer Sunline Defier Armillo 19 lb./.014D. Tom 1 Quote
