Clumsy fisherman Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Does anyone use spray scent on soft baits? What scent and brand has worked best for you? 1 Quote

Super User Catt Posted May 8, 2022 Super User Posted May 8, 2022 I use "worm juice" for two purposes first as a lubricant because I fish in grass a lot and the "worm juice" helps my plastic baits slide through easier. I use Fish Formula II or Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of 100% pure anise oil added; this is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up. The only place y'all find 100% pure anise oil is at your local pharmacy, the rest will be 40-70% max. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 8, 2022 Super User Posted May 8, 2022 MegaStrike , BANG , Kick'n Bass , Smelly Jelly , Berkley Gulp Alive and Pro Cure are my confidence scents . I use in garlic , shad , craw , night crawler and anise scents . For MegaStrike - I like the original which does not have a scent but does have enzymes and other properties bass are attracted to . Super User A-Jay Posted May 8, 2022 Super User Posted May 8, 2022 Megastrike is my preferred scent and the only one I use. A-Jay Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted May 8, 2022 Super User Posted May 8, 2022 Been using BANG anise and crawfish. Dunno if it’s helped but at least the anise smells very nice. The crawfish….. not so much ? Quote
ETnbasser Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 I use original Mega Strike some but just bought a bottle of BaitFuel yesterday to try. I’ve heard good things about it. 1 Quote

Same down here. My local grocery chain used to carry it but when they stopped I couldn’t find 100% anywhere. I just happened to notice it in a local pharmacy one day and felt a lot better ? GRiver Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 I was using Bang, then switch to Bait Mate, thinking about Mega strike or bait fuel next. Does anybody store their soft bait in attractant or just before using that bait 1 Quote

Does anybody store their soft bait in attractant or just before using that bait I have used the preload in the bag method with Megastrike. Doesn't seem to make it anymore effective. But does add a slippery factor which can make rigging a little tricky depending on usage. I just apply as needed now. (After it's rigged) A-Jay 1 1 Quote

RDB Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 I have several different scents that I sometimes use but I always carry a bottle of scent free soap to wash my hands. I use the same soap I use for hunting as I think human scent along with the different things we touch throughout the day likely has a bigger impact. 5 Quote

So how many times do you wash your hands though out the day? How long do you wait between washings? 1 Quote

DinkDreams Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 I never put much stock into attractants but I finally broke down and got a tube of Megastrike original. I don’t think it necessarily gets me more bites but I do like the “lubrication” of the plastic others have mentioned. Also, while I don’t think it makes a fish bite I do think it gives you an extra second or two of leeway when it comes to setting the hook which is nice. They seem to just hold onto it a little longer. 1 Quote

Usually when I first get on the water and after I take a dip and a leak. It’s common for guys to wash their hands after going to the bathroom but put them on a boat and they have no problem touching their sweaty junk and then adjusting their jig trailer. I’m not suggesting others do the same…it’s just what I do. Does it make a difference…I don’t know. Edit: I’m also going to have to build some sort of boat plank to pee off of. I’m getting so old that I’m having a hard time clearing the gunnel ?. 1 1 Quote
Brett's_daddy Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 I've heard fantastic reviews about this new stuff from American Baitworks called Baitfuel. They say it's odorless to humans so doesn't stink enough to make you gag like some of the others and they claim it's the first bait scent that was actually scientifically created/studied in a laboratory where the chronicled the fishes reactions to it. I think I might check that out myself. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted May 9, 2022 Super User Posted May 9, 2022 In the past few years I have used Megastrike and Bang. Both seem to work. I just picked up some Bait Fuel and it seems to be the real deal. I have had fish hold on to a bait for a long time before I have set the hook. Not sure what's in it but it doesn't smell like anything. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 9, 2022 Super User Posted May 9, 2022 *I'm beginning to think that using a scent increases my confidence which leads me to staying more focused which results in me catching more fish (thinking my success was because I used a lure scent) . It's probably 50% correct . 2 1 Quote
