washedkevin Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I was thinking of buying some exoswims. Im not sure what size fits best with a 3/0 EWG hook. Either the 3.25 or the 4. Any reccomendations? Thanks Quote
softwateronly Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 You'd probably be fine with either, but I would lean to a 3.25". scott 2 Quote

Most shad are small this time of year - the Strike King Rage Swimmer or Keitec FAT Swing Impact in 2.75" ~ 3.25" are a better bet now for numbers and the occasional bigger bass . Conversely , there are fans of the larger 4.75"( and larger) swim baits when hunting larger bass specifically . 2 Quote

I have been moving in the Bigger baits category and love the spring because fish are used to seeing bigger fish all winter as the fry are either growing or getting eaten. After the first group of fish spawns the new fry introduced into the lake force me to downsize again. Quote

The bass are currently eating shad that are 1" to 1.5" where I live so that is why I downsized my swim bait to the 2.75" to 3.25" range which I am fishing on spinning equipment . My bait cast set up gets the larger 3.75" to 5" swim bait sizes . Quote
Mbirdsley Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Traditionally I would agree with the smaller is better in the spring mentality. However, this year it hasn’t mattered. Not just the bass but, all different species are choking bigger baits that I wouldn’t normally run untill June or July. been a wierd year with the cold spring. Everything is 2-3 weeks behind Quote
