Hey guys, second post here. I posted a bit back about the best rod to pair with my antares dc 21 and the g loomis conquest was recommended.

I received it about 2 weeks ago then had my newborn, and just got out to use it. It immediately broke on my second cast, with the second tip loop coming right about of the resin with a Texas rigged weightless senko on it. Not ideal...

Anyways, the Amazon seller refused to help me initially, telling me they can't repair Rods and to talk to g loomis. So I called g loomis, and there warrenty guy said it sounds like a defective resin setting and I would need to send it in then an expert would decide if it could be replaced. This inspection takes at least 2 weeks.

If they decide it is indeed a defect, a replacement rod would be sent. If they decide its user error or caused, I would need to pay $185 for a replacement rod.

But, that all doesn't matter because they don't have any MBR conquests in stock and won't until late August at earliest. And apparently they don't actually repair the Rods, just replace them.

He said it would be best to ask the seller to RMA it as defective and have them do the replacement directly or refund me. Luckily, I ordered via Amazon so they were about to get the seller to accept the return and issue a refund.

Now I'm just wondering if it's even worth buying a conquest, knowing that if it ever breaks I'm prob 3-6 months out on getting any type of warrenty action and it will prob cost me $185. I'm seriously considering getting a megabass super destroyer now, because that was my second pick and the conquest build quality was trash. Any recommendations or similar experiences?

How was the rod packaged coming from Amazon?

I've bought rods from Amazon and they were pretty much just thrown into a empty cheap box- no padding or protection whatsoever. I've had to return several rods due to arriving broken.

It could be the rod got damaged in the shipping.

Sure get whatever you want.  A big part of the appeal of those rods is the awesome warranty.  If that no longer appeals to you then get a megabass.  Did you catch any fish on the rod?  If you did, did you "swig in the fish"?  That can be a rod killer.

On my first trip out I had a Conquest break on the first hook set.  Like suggested to you, I sent it in for them to inspect and they deemed it a defect and replaced at no cost.  Other than that and an NRX that was snapped in the power poles, I have never had a problem with G Loomis breaks.  You will only pay the Xpeditor cost if they deem it operator error and IME, they are pretty fair in their judgements.

As far as delays, we are still dealing with supply chain issues and they seem to resupply distributors stock first.  Under normal conditions, they weren’t unreasonable with their turnaround in my two cases.

Edit:  If it were me, I would only buy from a G Loomis dealer.  I use Am. Legacy but there are others.  I also always ask for a discount.

It was packaged well and undamaged, in a thick tube with custom inner foam. It was from a third party seller so it did not go through Amazon shipping centers

This was from a dealer from what I understand, I get the whole covid stuff but they should still keep Rods in stock for replacements especially since it's not super difficult to find this rod from retailers directly atm. Moving forward though, I will go with a retailer site directly as I feel the Amazon retailer tried to pass the buck on this and without Amazon pressuring them id be out of luck.

I'd honestly be very happy with g loomis if there wasn't a 3 month wait time on rod replacements, I get that manf issues happen especially with things as they are but having a loop/guide come off on the second cast is pretty bad for a $700 rod.

Does anyone own both of these Rods and care to comment if they price difference is justified for an all around rod between the conquest and the super destroyer

Get a Dobyns then you won't have to put up with that.

The replacement cost of a Xtasy is $ 165 if memory serves.

Of course, they can replace fury for 50 bucks, I'd be surprised if they cost any more than that to produce.

The replacement cost of a defective Dobyns rod is 0$. You only pay if it's your fault.

It took me at least 6 months to get a rod replaced under their xpeditor service. Under the circumstances,  I understand why it took so long. But to get a new rod replaced, for a fee, that was my fault is just great service.
