Average about 12 hrs a week {cut, trim, blow clean}.Not just mine. I have 5 others i do also. The owners of the 5 are veterans, that physically are not capable. I cut those free of charge. So i do like mowing, especially with the new zero-turn.

That's awesome! Let me know if you ever need some gas money or something to help with new blades or anything.

I'm taking a break from mowing and checking on my jerky, as I was mowing I got to thinking about if I hate it or love it. What about you? I mow about 2.5 acres and I can honestly say I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I do however love having a nicely fresh cut yard. I cannot stand when it starts to get tall. We have had a lot of rain so my yard is overdue. After looking at what I have mowed vs what I haven't I realize just how bad it was. Anyway, that was just one of my random thoughts. I know some people absolutely hate it and others who love it. Where do you stand on mowing?

Love it

It lets me "decompress" some

Not a huge fan of it but after I get going I’m fine with it and love the end result!

I was the guy that would have black topped my whole yard if I was allowed.
Now I like riding around my little 1/2 acre lawn. No phones no computers. It gives me a chance to breathe

In all honesty, lawns are some of the biggest water wasters that exist. In places where rain is not consistent, it really makes no sense to have one. Right now that’s basically the entire western half of the United States, according to the drought monitor.

Las Vegas recently passed a city ordinance that bans any form of ornamental grass at a residence or unauthorized business. And California is now limiting outdoor watering to one day per week.

Meanwhile in the southeast jungles, this is what it looks like if you skip a week of mowing Screenshot-20220506-222913-2.png

I don’t mind doing it. The wife loves doing it but she is a nightmare on a tractor. So solved the problem and bought her one of her own. She loves calling me a redneck, but I always remind her that she’s the one who challenged me to a tractor race.

I hate mowing with every fiber of my body. I would rather be fishing but since its been mowing season all my free time on the weekends where I may actually have a small chance of fishing, nope. I have to mow. So I haven't fished in two months.

Has anyone tried a robomower? More manufacturers like Husqvarna are turning them out. Be fun to try, for a mere $2k, but you need a small yard.

They need one you can drive from a game boy.

I have Not tried a robomower -

Most sold for residential use don't seem very rugged.

Might be good for level manicured terrain.

I'd be more inclined to need something like the Agria 9600 Remote Controlled Rotary Mulcher.

Think this one might even be Tim Allen approved.

I not only hate mowing grass, I despise it. I hate running the weed eater even more. We pay a guy to do it right now, but as my wife is looking at joining me in retirement we'll probably let him go. Our house sits on three lots so we've got a lot to mow. I've been looking at zero turns lately. I'll need to build a cooler mount for beer.

You need one of those helmets that hold beer with a straw. It's really hard to drink beer and use a zero turn. When I bought mine the guy told me it would cut my mowing time in half, little did he know I would have to take a break every 30 min to drink a beer.

Catt, my dad had a reel mower when I was a kid. He knew how to sharpen it, and when sharp worked pretty good for a small area. If it was dull, forget it. Took forever to mow a 10x10 patch of grass.

For 25 of the 30 years we have lived on our 3 acres, I did a lot of mowing.  I also cleared and maintained my forest section.  It looked like a park and took me 2 years to clear.  I added a small koi pond by stacking interlocking landscaping stones on a section of less steep cliff that my house is built on.  Lined it with rubber pond material, installed a filtration system and a small waterfall.  When I got detailed to Florida for 2 years, everything changed.  Wife couldn’t handle the koi pond maintenance and the forest got somewhat reclaimed.  We hired someone to mow the yard around the house.  When I came back, I filled in the koi pond and put a swing there.  Decided to let the forest go back to a natural state.  I actually like it better and so does the wildlife.  I gave away my lawn tractor and kept the landscaper?.

I was telling my wife about this topic on BR and my reply. She said the exact same thing, then added "you'll probably end up getting lit and now the neighbors yard."

I abhor mowing.  I would WAY, WAY rather blow snow.  I hate mowing enough that I got rid of all the grass in my yard.  Woods and landscape ftw.

I don’t hate mowing but it does anger-up my

allergies a lot of the time.  Fortunately my

wife, who grew up in a city, loves the riding mower, so I just end up doing the firewood work in the winter and let her do the warm weather yard chores.
