How much money have you spent on your fishing addiction?

Including my Ranger RT178 , FeelFree Lures, 20 Kistler rods, all the previous rods, the many ‘high end’ reels found on clearance, a few JDM reels, all the lures TacticalBassin made me buy …. ???

 

Probably pretty close to what we paid for our first house…

Not addicted to fish but fished since I could walk, it’s in my genes. 

Now if you ask my wife I have spent waaaay too much money fishing. Just the price you pay to enjoy time on the water.

35 years of fishing marlin and tuna tournaments, fun fishing traveling to Magdalena bay and Cabo San Lucas,    Off shore Sport Fishing boats are pricy to own and operate.

65 years fresh water fishing remote streams for trout, rivers for salmon and lakes for all over North America. 

Whatever it cost me was paid back in enjoyment and memories, can’t put a price tag on time spent on the water fishing.

It’s actually a super affordable sport. 
 

I have probably spent $2K on my rods and reels over my life and probably another $3K on tackle. Considering the amount of gear and how 20 years or so fishing….that’s amazingly cheap (and I could cut back pretty easily).

So I pretty much try not to figure this amount out. I'll just go with " I really REALLY love to fish". So much that I've decided to start building my own custom rods, another way to spend money on fishing gear. Lol

I'll add that 5 yrs ago I had 4k worth of rods reels and tackle stolen out of the cabin after a break in. It's all been replaced plus some, lol

Agreed. The biggest 3 fish I've ever seen (1 of them I caught myself) were from: 1 in Lake Coral Springs and surrounding canals, and 2 in a canal two streets down from my house where I fish almost daily. One of those was caught by my friend and it must have been around 11 or 12 pounds. My two biggest were 7-8 pounds, one near my house and the other in my profile picture in a canal in Margate next to some golf courses and the very dead end of the canal.

If you are talking about what is on hand right now, it is somewhere around $140,000.  That includes the boat and truck which only get used for fishing.

I spent around $10k for kayaks for myself and my two kids plus a trailer and accessories, another $2k for fish finders. I would estimate $2k in rods, another $2k in reels and probably $3 f9r rods and reels for the kids (often bday and Xmas presents). At least I can honestly say that each of our arsenal is pretty complete.

figuring on everything fishing related like boats and kayaks it's easily tens of thousands, none of which I regret. The $10 lure I end up not liking or losing to a pike is what annoys me the most!

Absolutely no idea... I've spent over 50 weeks of my life in Canada on fishing trips. Do that math alone. 

 

Doing some basic math on 25 baitcasters (a conservative number), I've got over $6k just in those.

Here's another example of the price we pay to Bass fish.

Yesterday a friend and I drove 2 hours to Lake Anna and fished.

 

Gas $95.72

Breakfast $11.32

Marina fee $10

Boat gas $17

Baits that met their demise, maybe $10

 

Cost me $77.02 to fish for 6 hours. Lol
