Super User LrgmouthShad Posted May 5, 2022 Super User Posted May 5, 2022 Just found this video on Youtube. Couple catching a 46.89lb bag on Shearon Harris Lake, NC in January. I've never seen anything like that, other than Paul Elias's 15 bass record on YouTube. Just wow. Makin me want to fish Shearon Harris this summer. 8 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 5, 2022 Global Moderator Posted May 5, 2022 Haha! Somebody got a 44 lb bag from chickamauga in a tournament 10-15 years ago. Now it’s a zoo, not much fun to fish and nobody catches bags like that anymore. Proceed with caution 1 2 Quote

But I have hooked into nice bass there before and you always have that feeling in the back of your head like... I could catch a 7lber on the next cast Quote
Big Hands Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 That is one heck of a sack, I don't care where you are. Quote

I don't think he ever thought the hook was stuck good enough. Rumor has it he's still setting the hook on that last fish to this day 2 Quote
Functional Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 every time i go to this lake it rekindles my urge to try bow fishing or going out with an ultra light for grass carp. Its incredible the quantity they stuffed into that lake. 1 Quote

You go into any shallow area and there are some nice sized carp everywhere. Would be fun to try either lol. Reports I've read say they are sterile grass carp but with the quantity I've seen i find it hard to believe. Just hoping they dont decimate the grass beds. Quote
Captain Phil Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 In 2001, I was at the weigh in when Dean Rojas brought his 45 pound 2 ounce 5 fish bag to the scales. He autographed my hat which I still have. These fish were caught in Kissimmee on West Lake Toho. Very nice person and a great angler. 1 Quote

I’ve read there is already much less grass than there used to be and that it has affected the fishing. Still strongly considering trying my luck out there this summer. Quote

That’s a shoulda coulda woulda for me. I focused on Thom A Lex lake last winter and a pond the winter before. I originally thought I wanted to fish Harris in the winter, and I shoulda stuck with that. The power plant helps. Summer will be busy, but at least the bass aren’t gonna jump out of the water just cause it’s summer. Quote
