Hi All,

Was at the local big box and decided to grab tie downs for my buddies tracker grizzly (50hp) believe it's an 02. Asked the sales rep if they'll hold that boat and he said yes that's what they put them on when they sold their similar boat. Come to find out I got the 1" boat buckle mini strap. Safe load of 466lb, 1400lb breaking strength each.  Think that same boat with a 90 is close to 1000 dry weight. We have a lot of stop and go traffic, will these hold up or should I upgrade to the 2"? They seem like they would work for a John boat with a tiller.

Sounds like a 9th grade Algebra word problem. All your missing is Joules thrown in there and something about potential energy.

By just asking the question your piece of mind will be to go to the 2” straps.

The point is you're holding the boat DOWN not up, so these will be fine. However, I always overkill my strapping and would go with the 2" as well. A little more money for peace of mind is priceless.

If you’ve ever seen where a tow vehicle hits something or gets in an accident with a boat in tow, 99% of the time the boat is separated from the trailer.  Sorry to say not even chains will hold most boats on the trailer.  Now to keep it from bouncing or sliding, you’re good to go with a heavy duty strap(s).
