Best Rod and Reel for Jigs

I'm looking for a second rod and reel set up to use for Jigs. I'm currently using a Dobyns Fury 7 foot 3 inch Heavy Fast action rated for 1/4 to 1 ounce baits. It's paired with a Lew's Speed Spool LFS reel. It is spooled up with 50lb Seaguar Smackdown Braid for flipping into heavy cover and grass. The set up is pretty awesome and casts far and accurately while still being really smooth on the retrieve. I am looking for a second rod and reel because I fish jigs a lot and I need another to pair with flouro for hard bottom fishing. I have found a few interesting rods and reels on Tackle Warehouse that have plenty of good reviews. The one that seems the most interesting is the Falcon Lowrider in a 7 foot 2 inch Heavy Fast action. My budget is $100-$160 for a rod and $100-$190 for a reel. I'm looking for a rod that is lightweight and sensitive yet has good backbone for hard hooksets. Some reels I have been looking at are the SLX DC and the Daiwa Tatula CT. I'd be happy to hear any recommendations you may have for rods and reels. Thank You.

Use the rod lure weight recommendation, match it to your planned lures,  to pick the power, not the subjective "M" or "MH" or "H."

Thanks! The Tatula, the SLX, and the Falcon Lowrider were all the ones I was looking at, just didn't know which one to get. They all have excellent reviews so I guess I'll just have to pick one.

Just a dumb Cajun's opinion but the SLX is over rated mainly because of the name.

 

The Lowrider is hard to beat at it's price point but Tatula does.

Very similar here. 

I fish jigs with the 7'1" Heavy/Fast "Jig" Tatula. I have two of them. 

 

I have quite a few Tat rods. The blanks are definitely great. That said, I've had the cork come loose and start squeaking on a couple of them. The triggers are odd and irritate my finger if I'm casting heavy lures too. I don't really cast my jig rods often, so that doesn't come into play on those.

The Tatula is a great rod.  Skip the slx dc (it's DC4 brake isn't great compared to the DC5 on the Metanium and Scorpion).  Get a Cuardo K and slap it on.  If you're open to used a Shimano Scorpion DC 17 is $160-190 used.  I have 4 and love them (from a Daiwa guy).

A St.Croix Victory, there are a few that will work for jigs. Just choose the one that suits your needs and jig weight. For the reel, Daiwa Tatula SV from Asian Portal, around  $150.

I love my Victory even tho it’s a bit out of his budget for rod. 7’3” Heavy XF is a great all around jig rod (so is the 7’3” MH imo). Also love the tat sv, but I would look for a Lew’s Tournament Pro. They are normally $200 but always on some crazy sale on Amazon. I’ve got a few as low as $130. You cannot beat them at that price. Outside of the victory I’d stick with Dobyns and pick up the best line you can afford.

St Croix Bass X or Mojo Bass are excellent rods and in your range. My daughter has three of the Mojo Bass rods in different actions.  I've been using her 7MH for hair jigs since she's gone for college till summer break. I wouldn't recommend a DC reel for jigs unless you just want it for the cool sound. Lews Super Duty G, lews tourney pro, Curado K or one of the MGL variants.
