Weslewis Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Looking for a new jig and worm rod. Does anyone have experience with either the dobyns kaden 714 or the powell endurance 7'2" Heavy? Very similar specs on both rods but i dont have any where local to get my hands on either one. Thank you Quote
TcRoc Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 714 depends what weights you are throwing jigs.. Great all around rod. 715 is very versatile but rated to 1.5oz lures . The 714 is more of a Medium Heavy . I love my Kaden 713. Can’t help nor comment on Powell as all my Rods are Dobyns lol. Quote
Big Rick Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I have that Powell rod. I really enjoy fishing with it. I will say, however, that I like the Powell Max version better. But, if budget is a concern, you can't go wrong with the Endurance line. I really like the sensitivity and how light the rod is in hand. I paired my Endurance with the Lew's P&S reel and love it. I can skip a jig for miles, it seems. I have no experience with the Kaden rod. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted May 4, 2022 Super User Posted May 4, 2022 Powell's warranty replacement cost is ridiculous. Quote
rangerjockey Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 I think Powell is the better rod. The new Naked series is worth a look. I've been using the 702 spinning rod for a few months now and have been impressed. Personally in nearly 40 years of tournament and fun fishing I've broken exactly 2 rods. One in the rod locker door and 1 in the trolling motor bracket. I'd rather buy a rod based on performance not what might happen some day. Quote

Factory defect y'all paying, my screw up I'll pay. I have a Powell Inferno it's hands down a better rod than Dobyns. 1 Quote

I bought the CB medium rod 6'9" for top water poppers and Shower Blows and it is lights out. Light as a feather with amazing action. The parabolic flex is perfect for my style of top water fishing.
