I haven’t spent much time in the wood shop lately (been fishing a lot). Anyway, while fishing, I met someone who, in my book, is a real American hero. He served a total of 23 years in the Army; first in ‘nam, later in Iraq. He suffers from severe PTSD and between that and other health issues, has difficulty speaking. He’s a smart man; it just takes him a bit to form sentences. Anyway, I've been taking him fishing and spending time with him. He’s a very humble and giving person and the other day, he gave me some leftover poplar 2x2’s. I decided to give them back to him, though they have changed in appearance a bit.

A charcuterie board a a couple of big coasters. I threw in some white oak for contrast.

Nice!

I enjoy woodworking as well. I've posted a few of my projects on here, including my first work with a scroll saw. I don't do a lot anymore since I bought my kayak. Also, when I moved to GA last year my new house doesn't have a garage. All my gear is on my screened in porch, but there isn't a lot of room out there.

That happened to me once.  Had a nice shop setup and we moved.  Ended up putting everything in storage with the notion I'd get it out when I needed it.  That never happened.  Ended up selling most of the bigger tools (table saw, miter, etc) and bought more guns ?

Fortunately, we moved again and the new place had a shop so, over time I was able to replenish my tools (and still have the guns....LOL).
