For real?? Irvine, odd city to place a BPS store.

Saw the article on yahoo news. Guess BPS felt a need for a store in that area.

You're right, BPS is opening in Irvine in 2023. It will be off Alton Pkwy. From what I read this store will be a bit smaller than the Rancho Cucamonga store and they are building on an old Walmart building. I'm guess BPS will tear that structure down and build up.

Thank you for the 411 about that, it's still odd to me that BPS would open a store in Irvine.

Cool, we need that but last time I walked into BPS Las Vegas, I don’t know what to buy there. I forced myself to buy some crappie stuffs since it was my vacation and my wife already gave me some budget.

Irvine makes no sense. Anaheim might make some sense; Angels, Ducks and Disneyland. Long Beach is one that makes sense. San Diego does too. the two in so-cal are in weird spots.

I agree. But, Irvine a fast growing place. I can recall all those hills, ect off either side of the 405 frwy, were all full of cattle. Look at it now. Industrial, Commercial, and residential buildings going up all over. So maybe it's not such a poor choice to add a store there.?

It is an odd location for a tackle/hunting store/boat yard. Might be perfect for selling leisure wear and camping gear.

This seems to make sense…they probably can’t compete with local tackle shops so that makes Irvine more attractive as not much around there.  Add that the annual income is probably higher there than some of the cities north of it like Long Beach or Anaheim

Also, there is The Long Fin tackle shop in the area, huge selection of fishing gear.

Not sure if the area is owned by the Irvine Company, but rent has to be a killer.  Either way, it will be cool to see.  I rarely buy any tackle or anything else for BPS.  Normally we just go for the hats/t shirts.

When I found out that Bass pro shops was opening so close to me (10 min) I was so happy. I usually buy tackle from them online and currently the nearest one is in 1 hour away. Looking forward to it!!

Is it me or does BPS only sell their own brand of tackle?  Its really hard to find other mainstream brands there.

BPS sells major brands of fishing tackle for both fresh and salt water anglers. The issue is a BPS store is located 50 miles north of Irvine and Anglers Marine who sells both boats and popular regional bass tackle I’d only 25 miles from Irvine.

Maybe they plan to close the Rancho Cucamunga store?

I doubt that. The rancho store is so crowded on the weekends it's ridiculous. The place is like a amusement park.

I think the Irvine store will do well also.

So they have the ie, now they will have north county and orange county as well as those in the Long Beach area a closer option. Would rather drive to Irvine then out to Ontario. And I like Anglers, but they aren't BPS. Rather buy a boat from them or some other more localized bass tackle from them. But they don't sell saltwater and opens up new markets.  I'd call it smart.

Anglers Marine in Anaheim is a good option, and they sell boats.

There's 20 independent shops that walk circles around BPS lame saltwater selection. Might be okay to buy electronics or something but I would never step foot in one if I was series about inshore/offshore fishing. It'll be the orange county store to buy camo and novelty items around the holidays since Turners sells more gear than clothing.

Never said I shop there.  Just stated a business approach for them. Don't do Turners either. Shop small businesses that I support around the area and online dealers which some are members on this site.
