JWall14 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I’m doing 5 total this year as a co: -Douglas -Cherokee -St. Clair (3) Should be a blast. Anyone else? 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 30, 2022 Global Moderator Posted April 30, 2022 I fish in the Gator Div and have every year for the past 12 except for 2 that I had to miss because of surgeries Best of luck to you. Mike 1 Quote
SWVABass Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Just fished my first BFL today. Drew a really good boater, he had a decent pattern going but was worried I’d have a hard time fishing behind him. Ended up with a limit for 9-13 good enough for 37th. Was a good time if all boaters I draw are that considerate of their co I believe I’ve found a new home. good luck up north, might see you at Cherokee don’t know if I’m going to Douglas the day before though. 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 1, 2022 Global Moderator Posted May 1, 2022 Douglas and Cherokee? Cool! All the water from those two lakes comes whizzing right by my house 1 Quote

We’ll if you see a talk guy in a Purdue jersey come say hi! Where did 9-13 get 37th? Most lakes that will get you paid well. Quote
T.Killian Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I've been following the NC division as a co for the first time.. had a great draw each tournament.. caught a few fish but learned a ton so far.. hopefully the learning continues. Good luck. Quote

That was on S. Holston, Volunteer Div. Took over 15 to win as a co and the cut was around 10-3. Fish were up shallow spawning pre and post. I caught them on worms, craws and spinnerbaits. I broke a smallmouth off at the boat who most likely would have put me in the money, but what can you do when they hit like a tank right at the boat??? Oh well next time I guess. Your talking a boilermakers jersey correct? Quote

Chris-Jenny White Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 I’m going to do the mountain division tournament on Barren River Lake on June 25. As a co-angler. I’m still needing a boat or to sign up with so if anyone wants to secure our spot please let me know 1 Quote
SWVABass Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 Good luck Chris, I would recommend calling the tourney director. They have been able to get me a boater link for all three BFLs that I’m confirmed for. Super responsive. Seems like they struggle to fill the co side. on a side note I have back to back BFLs this weekend. Hopefully get good draws at both. 3 Quote
Trox Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Went poking around the BFL site... Clicked to sign up for an event just to see what the prices were like... So I'm seeing $300 + the $85 membership for the last event in the Cowboy division, but no option for boater or co-angler... Are they the same price? Or what's the deal to become a boater... Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 18, 2022 Global Moderator Posted May 18, 2022 For all BFL Divisions the boater fee for each qualifier is $200, co angler is $100 The Super Tournaments are $300 & $100 Mike 2 Quote
SWVABass Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 @Mike L when is your next tourney in the Gator Division. Maybe you can answer this for me. Do you have to have paid for all tournaments to be able to fish the regional? I know you do to be able to get into the wildcard but was wondering about regionals. I missed the first one of the year, then had a pretty good showing last time. Based on my next three I don’t think I’m out of qualifying in the points as long as I don’t bomb any of the next three. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 19, 2022 Global Moderator Posted May 19, 2022 @SWVABass My next is the 2 day Super Tournament on Okeechobee on Sept 18-19. If you finish in the top 45 or win a division qualifier you automatically advance to the Regionals You have to enter all 5 in a division and fish at least 2 to advance to the wild card if you didn’t qualify for a Regional. At the Regionals and wild card tournament you have to finish in the top 6 to advance to the All-American. From there it’s on to the Toyota Series. Best of luck to you. Mike 2 Quote
SWVABass Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 @JWall14 how did you fare at Douglas and Cherokee? Quote

Was not prepped for fishing 30ft of water as much as I would have liked. Also got to fish behind a pro on the TW circuit so that was awesome to learn from and caught 3 keepers. Cherokee I was given a chance to win but had about 10-12 fish come off usually within the first 5 seconds. Drag was set a little too hard and only got 3 keepers. Still finished 18th but a little frustrated about loosing a ton of fish. Also learned a lot about the fishery. Those are the coolest places I’ve fished as of now so glad I went. I guess better I fixed that now than to get frustrated on St Clair in a few weeks. 3 Quote

SWVABass Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 Well sounds like you had better draws than me. My boater at Douglas said he had a hot top water bite that was lasting all day. Come to find out that pattern was almost a week old. Only had two there and was way down towards the bottom. cherokee I had a much better draw but my boater was honest and said he had not been able to prefish. We started shallow working the shad spawn, had one flop all over my spook but missed it and wouldn’t hit a follow up bait. Ended up cranking up two in 18-20 fow and had one come unbuttoned on a wobble head. Was pretty slow fishing for me. Congrats on cashing a check though!! 1 Quote

I’ve only been on Douglas a time or 3 and I have seen huge bass blasting shad on top in the middle every time. Like out over 60-100 feet of water. Those fish are beyond difficult to chase 2 Quote

One of the time I fished Douglas as a co, my "pro" said he had a deep water hump He sat about 50 feet from it a lobbed a giant spoon at it all day So I was sitting over about 60 feet of nothing all day He was sponsored by Ray's and I didn't even get a bag of chips out of it 2 Quote
