schplurg Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 You can get things printed at places like Office Depot, UPS Store and probably FedEx as well. I stopped buying printer ink and just do that. I rarely need to print anything anyways. I've returned stuff to stores, stuff I bought by mistake or didn't like. They don't complain when I do that so I expect them to make a mistake now and then. They even give me my money back. I think the law that says you are allowed to keep mistaken deliveries is kind of messed up. What if you designed a custom rod for someone and the wrong person got it? Oh well, you have to make a new one now, and eat the cost! Great law for large corporations but not for the small business owner. In my mind it is theft and I would never do it. Edit: I don't believe in Karma, I think it is a person's conscience. If a person (who isn't a sociopath) does something bad, say kicks a puppy, there is no magic force that will make something bad happen to them later. It is their own conscience that does that. If you kick a puppy you may feel bad about it later. You may be troubled enough that you become distracted and step in front of a car. The person with no conscience will always look for the car because they are only thinking about themselves at all times. This is why it seems like evil people never get in trouble - it's because they don't give a dang. Most people do care and it affects us. Just my own personal thought on karma. It's good that you returned the rod. It says a lot about your character. 1 Quote

Off topic but I argued with a waitress at a restaurant because she gave me too much change. She insisted she was correct. The restaurant is no longer in business. I'm sure it's not her fault, but I'm sure she contributed to it's demise. On 4/27/2022 at 5:35 PM, NavyToad said: I have a hard time feeling bad for large companies. If I had to lift a finger to correct their mistake, I probably wouldn’t. Shoot me. Generally, it's politics. The people involved know how to navigate their way thru the "system". I submitted an $8K quote today to a customer. The response I got was "Split it into 2 quotes because anything over $5K won't get approved". I'll submit (2) bids for $4K and it will get pushed thru. Super User BrianMDTX Posted April 29, 2022 Super User Posted April 29, 2022 I look at it like this. If I received a rod I did not order addressed as 123 N. BR Drive, and I live at 123 S. BR Drive, and I contacted the person who ordered it, I would expect them to say something akin to “Hey, thanks for the head’s up! Can I come over today or tomorrow at 5:00 pm and get it”? Not “ Hey, thanks for the head’s up! Can I expect you at my front door today at 5:00 pm to deliver it to me”? The company sent him a rod he did not order. He contacted them about it. The correct response should have been “Sir, we are expediting a return label to you. Please apply it to the shipping tube, and contact us when applied. We’ll arrange for the pick-up. And thank you!”! Certainly not “print this out and drop it off”. 6 1 Quote

volzfan59 Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Honesty is always the best policy. I agree, an apology or at least a thank you for your honesty would have been nice. Most folks would have kept the rod. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted April 29, 2022 Super User Posted April 29, 2022 I’m in agreement with @PhishLI ‘s advice. Send me the label and I’ll ship it ASAP when my schedule allows, but I will ship it back in the condition I received it. Something about a $350.00 item of mine being lost/stolen/or damaged as the result of not shipping it back comes to mind… Quote
RDB Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 You did the right thing and holding it or using it would have diminished your original good deed. I understand the frustration in not being acknowledged but at the end of the day, you did this based on your morals and values. I remember a story from Leo Buscaglia (The Love Doctor) regarding a discussion he had with a person who was upset because they would often greet strangers but the strangers would not acknowledge them back. Leo’s advice was if you were greeting them with the expectation of reciprocation, then maybe your motives weren’t pure. Your motives here are obviously pure, so it doesn’t really matter if they acknowledged you. And you’ll probably catch a new PB this year ?. And the award for the poster who referenced the “Love Doctor” in a fishing forum post goes to………ME “I’d like to thank the academy, Leo, and all the posters here who motivate me to up my game…I’m sure I’m forgetting someone…thank you Jesus…thank you to my 8th grade teacher who read us excerpts of Leo’s books…let’s see…hold on…stop the music, I’m not finished…this is my time to shi……………. 2 Quote

Very satisfactory on three different problems....two were not even caused by them, but by manufacturers I hear ya. For most things they have it covered and covered well. The problem with Amazon is when you have an issue that falls between the cracks of their pre-programmed CS options. That's when I long for an actual person I can talk or chat with. Even the chat function is built on canned responses, great handling for 98 percent of the problems but on at least two occasions recently I have had a problem that didn't "fit" and it proved very frustrating. DINK WHISPERER Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 I had this happen during the black Friday sale last year. I placed 3 big orders from ALF. Somehow, I received an extra duplicate Poison Adrena rod that I didn't pay for. I called them and they said the shipping back to them was so ridiculous that they were willing to give me a significant discount if I chose to keep it. It was such a good offer I chose to buy it ? 1 Quote
