I don't care what y'all say the wind ain't my friend!

For about a month now our winds have been 20-30 mph sustained.

I'm bank fishing & it's blowing the exact direction I wanna cast towards!

Its been extremely windy up there too in the Upper Midwest.  I saw several overturned semi-trucks in the ditch on Interstate 29 north of Sioux Falls a couple weeks ago.

You don’t mess with Mother in Laws and Mother Nature.

And she don’t care.

That's pretty much the standard here in central OK for the spring.  This is actually the first time in three years that I've gotten to fish the prespawn/spawn, because it's always too windy to be out there on the water in my kayak (and I can only fish on the weekends due to my schedule).  But so far this year, we've had two days with sustained winds below 18mph and gusts below 25 (which is my cutoff for being out in my kayak), and it looks like we might get another this weekend!

It's no fun hearing everyone else on the planet talking about prespawn and bed techniques, when you know from late February to late May is the one time of year you can almost never get out to fish.

I feel you. It's been very breezy in SC this spring. Not your friend when you're paddling a kayak. I'm thankful for the breeze right now though. We have people working under the house and can't use the AC all week.

Samething every Spring.. Excited weather starts to warm than the winds fire up for 6 weeks or so. First outing other day on Yak. Watched weather and looked ok.. half the day was ok.. other half.. I'm not getting thru the Pearly Gates with my mouth. Can't wait til I get the Ai3 with spot lock

I agree with you. I constantly read about how the wind is beneficial but I like no wind and I like dead calm especially when out in the boat.

I cannot remember one instance when I could say I caught more fish because I fished a windward shore etc.

Up in SW Ohio it’s been consistently 10-15mph winds every day I’ve gone out. Makes weightless plastic fishing almost impossible because the wind blows my 10lb braid around like a plastic bag

I live about 50 miles south of Sioux falls and can concur that it has been stupid windy. Last Saturday we had 40mph winds with gusts up close to 60...it sucks.

Even the locals in SD were complaining about the wind when I was there.  And that is unusual because they said the wind is always blowing on the prairie.

I prefer fishing in the wind, even heavy horrendous wind versus no wind. I would possibly look at it differently if I was in a kayak, but that isn't gonna happen.

Define "heavy horrendous wind".  Because I don't think you and I have the same definition for that.

For example, here's a picture from a day I tried to fish (from the bank because I'm only half stupid) with winds at 40mph with gusts reaching 80. It doesn't look so bad.  But it's only a 60 acre lake, which is less than 0.1 square miles.  To me, 15mph with 25mph gusts isn't even windy.  That's just the normal breeze, and is good kayaking weather.

Oklahoma is in its own category when it comes to wind  from what I understand

I fish in winds up Small Craft Advisories 24 - 38 mph sustained with higher gust in my 1448 Jon. The particular lake I fish most often is at higher elevation than most of the land  surrounding it and water is pumped up to it. The winds are typically 1.5 - 2 times what's forcast. I've been out many times during Gale - Force winds 39 - 57 but that's pretty rough and I have to fish from the center seat to keep the waves from coming over the bow and it's definitely a wet ride. Our lake's wind is why I run an 80lb TM. It's really no big deal unless you use logic or common sense.? I do catch bigger fish on some of the roughest days.

Me either. Tonight it'll be 38* with 17-23 mph NW winds. Not fun.

Last weekend sustained winds between 20 and 25 mph with gusts between 30 and 40 mph.  Weekend before that sustained winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts between 20 and 25 mph.  During the workweek just a slight breeze.  Something is really wrong here.

I hate fishing in the wind. A very light breeze with a little chop on the water is okay. I don't even try to fish the wind blown banks. I have never caught a fish doing that.
