I am selling my nicer bass fishing gear locally because I don't want to mess with shipping rods. I don't know what used gear is generally going for so I was hoping you all could help me out. I will be posting it all on Facebook in the Tulsa area if that matters. Here is what I have that I would like to sell.

Lews Speed Spool LFS x 2

Lews Mach rod 7' mh/F

Lews Mach rod 6'10 mh/me

Shimano SLX XT

Shimano SLX 7'2 H/F

How quick do you want to sell it?

These "might" sell quickly if someone knows what they are getting, not likely though

Lews Speed Spool LFS x 2 - $75 ea

Lews Mach rod 7' mh/F - $70

Lews Mach rod 6'10 mh/me - $70

Shimano SLX XT - $75

Shimano SLX 7'2 H/F - $75

These "might" sell quicker and are more than likely Facebook prices

Lews Speed Spool LFS x 2 - $50 ea

Lews Mach rod 7' mh/F - $40

Lews Mach rod 6'10 mh/me - $40

Shimano SLX XT - $60

Shimano SLX 7'2 H/F - $50

Forgot to note, they are all in prime condition. 9 out of 10 on condition.

Excellent condition mid-tier stuff is pretty common, so don't expect to sell at a premium.

I don't expect it, thats why I'm asking what a realistic number would be. Ive never sold any fishing gear so I have never looked into used values.

The problem with Facebook is, there had to be someone local looking for exactly what you are selling. You would have better luck selling on a forum. You might consider just listing the reels and only having to worry about shipping them. I understand not wanting to ship the rods though. I have about 6 that I need to sell but I don't want to deal with it.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. I could ship reels through my work for pretty cheap but I'm also hoping people locally will want them as a combo and not just the rod or reel. I dont have to sell them so i can be patient.

I could be in the same situation soon. I may be changing jobs and if so fishing will be next to done for a while so I am going to try to get rid of some of my stuff while it still has value.

I think the guys nailed it. I estimate 50% to 75% of retail depending on condition. Most places I've seen that do trades offer a little under 50% retail for your trade, then try to sell for 75% - 80% of retail.

Sorry, not trying to rain on your parade.  Just trying to set realistic expectations which you seem to already have.  Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the input and no rain on the parade here so no worries.

Don’t know if this option is available to you but we used to have a tackle shop around here that would allow you to place items for sale in the shop. They would let you know if someone was interested. I bought a couple rods that way. It’s been years since I did this so I don’t recall the shop owners cost for doing this. Sadly the shop is no longer there, it was a gem.

I second the local shop consignment plan. I’m always happier to buy a used rod from a neighbor than an online shop.

If not and you just want the cash you can trade to an online shop. Normally they will give you x amount of credit/cash, and you’ll only be shipping rods once.

Most stuff from Lews is marked up at retail and can be regularly found for 20% or more off the retail cost.  The SLX XT combo can be found for around $150 new.

I would put the Lews stuff at half of the retail cost and the SLX combo for $100-$120.

Just in case, I do buy and sell used stuff quite often so I am not trying to low ball you. Just trying to be realistic.

60% of retail is my starting point for good condition pre owned tackle. Maybe 75% for NIB <60% for severe boat rash, in need of service etc

Thanks to everyone for the information.

I used to live on the Delaware river in NY and I sure wish I still did for the fishing and being able to drive to your store and shop in person!  But seeing as I'm selling stuff i wont be buying anything for a long time.

If there were any local tackle shop within 45 minutes of me I would. Especially if there was one that catered more to bass. Any that I have been to really pushed the crappie gear.
