Don’t know why but this clip pop up on my YouTube the same time I ordered shallow spool for my alphas SV TW. Of course I canceled the spool order.

for Daiwa fan who want true finesse reel and don’t care for BFS, line capacity about half of alphas, less than 70SV and about the same as Pixy. Too bad Daiwa use original color not as fancy as zillion silver wolf. We shall see if I’m gonna have third alphas this year.

There is a pic of that new one on another site with the regular alphas spool and the brake cup looks smaller.  You think that means it will be less overbraked than the deep spool alphas?  I like mine for skipping but the casting distance is pretty average for an sv reel.  I was kind of expecting zillion performance but I got tatula sv like casting.

I haven’t seen it and right now it is just all speculation. For me I just want a reel that comfortable to hold plus line capacity matching my line type. Shallower spool is good that I can use 6-8lb line without worry about backing or can use 10-15lb braid and don’t have to fill the line too much. As far as distance concerned I don’t have problem with distance much. Yes the alphas cast not as far as my Core 50 but control is top notch especially with wind.

Btw I set my dial around 5, 6 when get too windy and 4 when using with heavier and more aerodynamic lure.

I recently got an Alphas SV (Thanks to the recommendation by @Bass_Fishing_Socal) and mine absolutely bombs Keitechs on 3/16 and 1/4oz Guppy heads.  I have it paired with a ALX Zolo Dream which is a 7’ M/F.  I also have couple Tatula SVs and they are very different casting wise to me.

I saw this a few days back, looking like I may get one.  Assuming the exchange rate stays as great as it is now upon release, this guy should be going for less than $200, insta-buy for me.  I wonder why Daiwa never did this with the CT SV 70 as SLP Works sells a 700S shallow spool for those reels.  It's a fine spool and I have one in both my Alphas and Millionaire CT.

If I had a Silver Wolf,, which may happen before fall, I'd still use my Roro-X spool on it, and it would be a noted improvement.

You can't have too many line options around.

I would have still bought the spool to supplement the Daiwa spool - you never know when they will be available again.

With amount of light weight shallow spools I have, I doubt I would need more. I don’t even touch some of those for awhile now. Super light weight/shallow spool like BFS is good and should be big improvement if I plan to only cast light lure. I would be limited in line type and if I want to use for something heavier like 3/8 and up I doubt it would help from that lower start up inertia????
The perfect blend for me is versatile reel just like Pixy or CQ50 too bad I don’t have those in left hand.

I have the Alphas SV TW 800HL.  I tried casting weightless senkos with it and it didn't do as well as my Curado 70 MGL. I'll have to play with it more though.  I'm testing it out on a crank rod with 3/8oz squarebills and it bombs them just fine.

I have a small pile of older Alphases but for various reasons I’ve never picked up any of the newer ones, this might finally be the one though.  I’m generally don’t make long casts and Like to change out thinner lines fairly frequently, so shallow spools are extremely attractive.
