Seems as if KVD line conditioner is the gold standard? Any others worth using?

I wouldn't know. Never considered looking for alternatives.

I started with KVD - it works great on mono, FC and Hybrid...I see no need to try anything else.

Real Magic works just as good.

I never tried kvd because real magic works well and I tried it first.

I use meguiars quick detailer, and turtle wax ice when spooling for a longer lasting waterproofing measure.

The KVD conditioner works great to keep pasta from sticking together also.

KVD is the best of the ones I have tried.

Reel Snot is basically mineral oil. It gets down deep into a spool of line. I really notice it when stripping old line I used it on. It got all over my hands.

Lew’s line conditioner smells like a men’s cologne and does not work on line memory as good as KVD.

Never tried Reel Magic based on the reviews both here and online.

I think all of the 'line conditioning' products are just repurposed products.  KVD is quick detailer, Reel Magic is silicone spray, and sounds like Reel Snot is mineral oil.

Kvd is what I use.. have a bottle of reel magic that doesn’t  get used anymore

I don't know what the magic snake oil is in the KVD stuff but it works.  I will also add that it has been my experience that if you start with quality line, then this stuff isn't necessarily needed.

I've been using KVD line conditioner for years.

I have used Tangle Free for decades on mono, Copolymer and FC line. Punisher Lures distributes it, comes in a 2 oz pocket size plastic bottle. Just a few drops on the spooled line  as needed while fishing.

KVD Line conditioner requires pre treating the FC spooled line 24 hours before using. On hot windy days KVD is worthless imo. Tried several times and went back to Tangle Free now that Punisher offers it.

Stay away from Reel Magic it breaks down and stiffens reel lubricants.

How is the Tangle free applied to have a even application since it’s a drip application?

Tangle Free is a wetting agent that coats the spooled line relieving stress. How evenly it coats isn’t a factor. You simply put a few drops on the spooled line. When you cast the coated line spreads as you recover the line.

KVD is a penetrant that allows the line to wet and hold water in lieu of shedding it. The problem for me is FC line dries fast and stops wetting, dry line is difficult to keep isn’t on the spool without relieving memory stress. KVD works of but it stops wetting you can’t add more instantly like you can with Tangle Free. Monofilament nylon line wets because it’s hygroscopic, but tends to retain it’s spooled memory shape.

Tangle Free relieves memory stress, helps to prevent coiling or springing off the spool. Both KVD and Tangle Free help to lubricate line.

SoCal we have very low humidity during hot weather drying the line quickly and dry FC is a problem casting.

Is this for fluorocarbon only or does this work on co-poly as well?

Who makes it and where can I buy it to try it?

There is no so called line conditioner made solely for flouro that excludes all others. At least none that I’m aware of.

All should help regardless of what type even braid, even tho the results are minimal
