squat Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 So I sent back my pointer and just got it back. Had a note in the box saying "we will replace it this time but from here on out you we do not replace defective lures, your dealer will have to decide" Well BPS AND luckycraft customer service said to send it back too Luckycraft... After buying 2 of the baits and have issues with both I will most likely never buy from them again. There is ONE person that seems to work there. On top of that the one person seems to not know what she said from one day to the next. I'm considering send both of the baits back and get my money back. I wasn't expecting anything but my original bait, but COMEON, the warranty on the back says they will replace it and now they are acting like their wonderful paint never chipped and are refusing to help me from here on out. Looks like Rapala is my go to company now. In tougher conditions my jointed rapala did the same thing as the pointer. With the exception of the LC having better hook sets. Oh I fished the luckycraft for 15 min over GRASS and the paint chipped off because of hook swinging. Isn't that why you bought it? Because the paint doesn't chip? Someone said that Rapalas customer service can be a pain sometimes.... Well I spent 3.99 on a jointed shad rap that has similar action to the pointer. I spent 18.99 on the pointer. In my experience I have been treated well for only having bought a 4$ lure. Compared to having bought a 19$ lure and being told never to contact the company attempting to fix a defective product. I was wondering WHY there are no Luckycraft Customer Service Info out there. IE "hey my lure is defective; here is my story" Well its because LuckyCraft puts themself as far from the customer as they possibly can they put dealers, stores, anything they can between them and the customer. Sorry but thats not the way to get a customer base. Yeah you get guys like Swindle, Reese, Jordan, but its the recreational angler that pays the bills. Oh the reason they put dealers etc between you and them is so you can never get your product replaced if its defective. For instance you have it 31 days and the paint falls off. Now you have to buy a new one. LuckyCraft Isnt going to help you and they are gonna tell you to go to the dealer. The dealer is going to tell you that your 30 day warranty is up. Dont get anyone a luckycraft unless they can fish it right away. Because if its defective like the 2 I bought, you have only 30 days to get it fixed... oh and did I mention its 4-5x as much as another brand that WILL help you when their lure chips/breaks/cracks Quote
HomersTomaco Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 hahahaha. Any lure you use will result in wear and tear. You dont want knicks in it, dont use it. It's one lure... why go through the hassle when you can just buy another one. Quote
Craw Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Welcome to the site. In regards to your post, I'll say that maybe you are expecting to much out of these baits. I've got several pointers and the ones I use the most are all chipped. The finish on these baits are extraordinary but they are going to show wear and tear. To me it's no big deal. I think they work just as well if not better once you "break them in" so see what you think. I'm speaking in terms of wear and tear, paint chipping or mild discoloration. If however, a bait was to crack, a lip would break or hooks were to pull out, I think you would absolutely have a legitimate complaint. I can't help but feel like Lucky Craft did right by you when replacing the lure. Hope I haven't offended you. Quote
The_Natural Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Lucky Craft finishes are great, but they use larger than normal hooks on their crankbaits, and these hooks are razor sharp. This equates to hook marks on the sides of your bait, almost always in a curved fashion where the hook swings. This is happening to several of my other crankbaits since going with larger Diaiichi 4x trebles on all my crankbaits. This has proven to not interfere with the biats ability to catch fish. If I sent in a bait every time it lost paint, I'd be out a cash from shipping Quote
Guest avid Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Welcome to the forum. Now tell us the good news Quote
Chris Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 You sent a lure back to a company because in the process of you using the lure the paint chipped? I have sent back lures that broke, split, didn't have a rattle in a rattling crankbait, hook figure eight fell out, the two sides of the crankbait didn't match up, lure would not float, lure was missing internal weight, normal out of my control defective crankbaits. If a paint job didn't standing up to abuse is that what you call defective? :-? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 9, 2006 Super User Posted December 9, 2006 I buy most of my hard baits from BPS. If a lure is defective or becomes defective, I take it back for exchange. I have never had any problems with BPS and have never been denied. However, I don't consider cosmetic dings to constitute a case for the lure being defective. In fact, I like to fish lures that have been beat up CATCHING fish, it gives them a unique character. Most guys I know get kinda jazzed up whenever they see someone fishing a beat up bait, guys know that dog hunts! So, I wouldn't worry so much about a little wear and tear, Lucky Craft catch fish, period. Regarding customer service, go through your retailer, they have the clout and they always get their money back through credits on their next billing. Unless you just want to make it a big deal, it's not. Quote
jdw174 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Some of the best (and most used) lures in my boxes look like they got caught in a roll of barbed wire. I regularly fish a Cordell Spot that has the nose mashed up from banging into things, and the finish is a wreck from teeth marks , yet the fish still will climb all over that lure. Slight paint chips from hooks? I know it could get bothersome from an aesthetic standpoint, but it shouldn't hurt the fish catching ability one bit. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 9, 2006 Super User Posted December 9, 2006 I have had one lure from Lucky Craft that was bad. It was a shell white pointer. I was setting up my reel and dipped it in the water for the first time. Before I make a cast, I always check the knot and that's when I noticed that the paint was all gone and was floating in the water. I tried to contact LC but got no response. I then called BPS where I purchased it and they exchanged it with no problems. The new has been fished numerous times without any issues. I would hope that a company that charges $15+ for lure would have better customer service. Quote
0119 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Anyone can have a bad experience with a product or a company. I wont ever buy anything with Daiwa on it because of what I percieve as poor quality and bad customer service. I cant say that Lucky Craft has exceptionally durable paint jobs, but I swear by American Shad and you cannot find a better action in a lure. Quote
Pa Angler Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Welcome to the forum. Talk about chipped paint, If you remember the 2005 Classic KVD went to an old Rogue that had so much paint was off it looked like one of those Ghost colors that LC sells. If the outside has paint on it it will wear off. Get some X-Raps I think the color is on the inside of a clear body rather than the outside. Chow Quote
