Maybe it depends on the brand? I have KastKing super power on a couple of reels that I spooled last summer. I don't fish a lot compared to most of the people on this board.

Long as it's not abraded by rocks and such...a long time.

I'm going into my 3rd season with 40# Sufix 832 on my moving baits rig, 2nd season with 10# Sufix 832 on my finesse rig.

I have some Power Pro that’s been on for years.

Depends how often you use it and where you use it. I fish some gnarly rocky rivers a few times a week with a lot of my spinning gear and the line gets frayed pretty quickly every season, so I’m constantly cutting it down/using up a lot of it. I ‘flip’ it once a season and then at the start of every year, I put on some fresh line.

My punching and frogging setups will be starting their 3rd season with the same line. No problems there, cause it doesn’t get frayed and I’m not constantly retying.

I changed it last night actually, but my catfish/carp setup had braid on it that is at least 6 years old if I remember correctly.

Braid can really last forever depending on where and how often it is used. Easily a few years. I would not change your braid if I were you.

It'll fade before it wears out.

I've ran Power pro 4 - 5 years and still only changed it out because of fade.

I've got some Fenwick IronThread that has been on a few bait-casters since the 1990's.   : )

Can't wear that stuff out!

Other reels have PowerPro.

How long does braid last on a reel?

Longer than you, unless it gets too low on the spool first

Ive changed to new braid only if there is new line in market and I like, otherwise I have braids I put on some reels 7 years ago and they are still good.

4 or so years, then I turn it around and get another 4 years. It will probably last longer than 4 years tho.

Mine doesn’t wear out. It runs outs.  I have braid on my surf cast reel that’s really old. The lack of snags means I never lose any.  It’s pretty faded tho.

I spooled my International off shore reels with 60lb Fins Original PRC Braid back in 1990 as back up line for top shot 100 lb mono. The line is still on those reels. Used the left over braid for fishing Clear Lake and the Delta heavy cover and the line was still on that reel until I sold it, the braid looked new, no fade or abrasion. Excellent braid.

I keep braid on until the spool gets low.  A charter captain I do work for has some reels with 5+ year old Power Pro.  The color is mostly gone but it's still catching fish.

It will last so long that it becomes highly visible. Then you reel that onto another reel and use the other end. No need to spool 2 reels. I also fill the spool halfway with cheap 15# mono before adding the braid. The stuff is expensive, but lasts so long, cost is mitigated.

Until you make the superman cast trying for world record distance and botch it resulting in a monster blow up.  That now could be hours or years depending on the user.  I'm usually good for one or two monstrously stupid moments a year. :(

I have braid on a spinning reel that I believe I put on at the start of the 2019 fishing season. It's losing color but still works well.

I only replace it when the spool gets low or if it's been dragged along rocks. In the latter case, you can usually cut off the 10 feet at the end and just worry about when the spool gets low.

If you leave the rods on the deck of any boat ?  In direct sunlight ? Or reflected sunlight from boat surfaces ? Maybe 3 months.

I have Ande Monofilament 2# test. It is many years old in my clothes drawer. Still perfect & shiny. The Braided lines are still excellent right next to the Ande.

All the rods on a boat deck are Macho.  Death to keeping plastic strong.

About three years ago I pulled a reel out of storage that had some Spider Wire on it from when that brand first came out.  Back when it was made of "Spectra" instead of "Dyneema" (same thing just sourced from a different company).  When I pulled that reel out and cleaned it up, I reused that line on the spool for another year, and it worked fine.  So, unless it becomes worn out through abrasion or UV exposure, I'd say it can last at least 20 years.  Probably a lot more.

3 years on one reel.. would be more reels But have switched from 832 to Smackdown on the others .. the 832 I have on 1 reel hasn’t been reversed yet  so I’m sure could get 3 to a million more years out of that reel lol.. although I just stripped Smackdown off a reel to spool it with Flouro so that 832 will be coming off getting replaced with the Smackdown just stripped.

All my reels have braid. Think oldest is from 2014. Only change it when its low or gets frayed. Been using PLine TCB 8 last 8yrs and doesn't fade as bad as Power Pro or Suffix did.

Again, it's all a question of where and how much it is used. I have way too much gear and don't spend nearly as much time fishing as I'd like to. I tend to rotate my gear, because why have all that stuff if your not going to use it. So, in my situation, I'm not putting lots of time on my gear. I also flip the line when it starts getting ratty. Given my scenario, I probably get 5 - 10 years out of my braid.
