Let’s have a fun thread.

“I have never caught a bass using…”

(fill in the blank)

just curious what the answer will be because when I first got into fishing a few years ago I bought just about every kind of fake bait under the sun…most of which have never caught me a fish. Just curious what have been duds for you…as well as constant performers. For me…I have never caught a bass using: Zoom Fluke, Storm or Creme swim baits, Storm 360 GT Searchbait.

what consistently works in my arsenal; Yum Dinger worms fished weightless Texas Rigged…KVD sexy Shad colored Squarebills, and marabou hair jigs.

now, I only fish from the shore…and I fish a lot in a spillway with moving current. So I’m not sure if that affects the performance of some of the baits I just never have luck with or what.

I do have some swim jigs in my arsenal too which I have yet to try so I can’t comment on how well those will work for me.

Never caught a fish on a Hula Popper. I can catch plenty with a Rebel Pop R. Never caught anything on a Ned rig but a shaky head works fine. There are many tricks I haven't tried and some I know I never will try.

Zoom Fluke

Same actually. Can’t recall ever catching one. I don’t think I’ve ever caught one on a jerkbait either. Those ‘twitch’ baits I would need to practice with more.

most fun to cross off the list was probably buzzbaits and frogs. I hardly fished topwater and those became really good producers on ponds around here, unsurprisingly.

Large glide baits, and simmbaits.  I have never tried one.  I am sure they would work on the waters I fish, which would be a big  problem.  One DD bass, and I would be speeding down a road, that ends in bankruptcy, divorce, or both.

I have rarely tried my frogs or Rebel PopR. I don’t have any heavy rods but I have played with them occasionally and never got a bite on them.

i am surprised I have never gotten a hit on a Zoom Fluke. The action on them looks awesome when twitching and popping, but I’ve just never gotten a hit.

I’m also really surprised the Creme and Zoom rubber swim baits don’t get me hits considering how real they look.

I have a DSJ hitch, Spro 8" swimbait, and an Ima 7" fluke glide that haven't caught yet, but they've all barely gotten wet.  I usually get hard headed and beat a bait to death when the conditions should favor it.  It's possible that these don't get bit this year if I don't make some time for them before the spawn.

That is how I feel. I just borrowed a buddy's trout swimbait for use tomorrow morning. Will be my first time trying one. One better not bite it. Swimbaiting is a slippery slope.

Mine is the whopper plopper

I have actually caught a couple fish on a WP, but they are now Christmas tree ornaments at my house.  Wasted money and effort IMO

I would be glad to trade you some Christmas tree ornaments for any Whopper Ploppers you have.

Same. I have great luck with whopper ploppers. It's become the "nothing else is getting hit" bait, and it usually produces

Chatterbait

Not yet. I’ve been trying more chatterbaits lately, but no dice.

Also frogs. Got popped but no hookups.

Spro rats. I bought a couple after a friend highly recommended them and watching an NDyakker video. But to be fair I think I only made about 20 casts with one. The conditions never seemed right last year. Maybe this year

Zoom Fluke here as well. The chatterbait and swim jig are recent converts in my gear that have taken fish so I can’t name them.

A suspending crankbait.  I like the concept, but, evidently the fish don't.  I think I only have two left out of the six or eight I purchased for different depths.  Neither of those remaining two have gotten wet in recent years.

As for constant performers, it depends on the season. Right now, a blade bait is producing more than anything else. Come post-spawn, I doubt anything will out produce a jig/Rage Craw for me.
