NavyVet1204 Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Fellow bait monkey victims. I got got last night. 6’6” Medium/Fast Abu Vendetta Casting Rod. It was on clearance on TW last night for $59.99 and I already have an Abu Revo ALF to mount on it. What lures/techniques are good for a rod like this? If it were yours what would you use it for? I created a thread the other day about having nothing but 7’ MHF rods in my arsenal so I know nothing really about the usefulness of this rod I just bought except that I may use it for finesse jigs smaller spinner baits. edit: this brand of rod I already have three of in longer lengths so I’m happy with the quality for the price point. Super User Deleted account Posted April 20, 2022 Super User Posted April 20, 2022 This is what I see "I impulse bought an engagement ring..." In my mind, you don't buy a screw driver and then go looking for screws, when the need arises to turn a screw, you get the right screw driver. #bassackwards. That being said, that rod is a tad overpowered, and not extreme in any of it's attributes, so it will fish a bunch of middle of the road baits adequately. 1 2 Quote

Aren't you a Deleted Acct downer this morning? And what's wrong with buying a screwdriver and going around looking to screw something? Wait, that didn't come out right. 1 4 Quote

If I was being a downer, I would have said something like "That rod will snap in two way before you find what it's good for anyway"... 1 Quote
EWREX Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 seems to be a good rod for jerkbaits, flukes, light texas rigs, poppers and other light topwaters 3 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 20, 2022 Super User Posted April 20, 2022 6'6" to 7' MF or MHF rods are often the answer given for the question "What is a good all around rod?" I'd try everything with it. Probably not much you can't use it for (within the weight range it can handle). Might not be optimal, but it could still get the job done....from crankbaits to jigs. 1 Quote
