Does anyone own this rod here? I was thinking it would make a nice rod for tubes with heavier weights, finesse jigs and other similar types of things for Smallies...

Just curious if anyone owns it and what they use it for. Thank you

Pretty versatile line up of rods.  I have the 7’3 MH and the 7’2 H also and love them.  I just try to stay within the recommended weight ranges for each.  I have used my 7’2 M for senkos and light Texas rigs, shakey heads, 4 inch flukes, finesse  jigs, and small paddle tails…. Maybe some other stuff.

I’m interested to see what others are using it for also.

I thought it was a regular tapered rod for moving baits.

it has a fast action.

I stand corrected!

It is listed as fast on a few tackle stores. I still think it fishes like a fast…. Maybe a regular fast?  It does not flex past the top 1/3 of the rod.  I just double checked to confirm because I was starting to not trust my memory after I read that.  Definitely a big difference from my moderate rods which flex down towards the middle of the blank.

Sounds like an ideal blade bait rod, will have to pick one up before next Fall for sure.

I have the 6'3" JDM version (163M).  It casts slightly heavier weights just fine but excels in the 1/4 - 3/8 oz range.  Really light rod - highly recommended.

I own this rod and absolutely love it.

It is a fast action in my opinion. It is highly versatile and can handle a multitude of techniques. In the summer/fall, I love throwing buzzbaits on it in more open water situations. Yesterday I was using it throwing a 3" Spark Shad on a 3/16oz ball head and it performed perfectly for that. As for other techniques it would be good for - jerkbaits, small texas rigs, small jigs, lighter rattle traps, smaller topwaters, wacky/neko rigs. It's such a versatile rod for anything in its weight range.

So basically any soft plastics with up to 1/2 ounce would be good to go without overloading it?

It claims it can handle up to 3/4 of an ounce which seems like a lot for a medium power rod...

Yeah it would be great for that.  You could probably use it for jerkbaits and some smaller top waters too… I personally prefer a shorter rod for those so I use my 6’10 Expride.

That sounds right to me.  I tend to stay on the lighter side of the range because I have other rods I am use.
