The Lord is always with me. Just the two of us most of the time. The wife likes to come along once in awhile.

I fish by myself except for the few club tournaments I fish every year.  People are surprised when I tell them I take week-long fishing and camping trips 4-5 hours away by myself.  I don't think twice about it and actually prefer it that way.  I definitely wouldn't want to spend that much time with someone else.  A couple times I have fished 4-day trips with guys in my club and that's a lot of time to spend with someone who isn't your wife or child.  But like others have said, it is nice to have someone to talk to about your day on the water.  A colleague that I started working with last year is an excellent fisherman and we'll often go out on the same day and launch and lock through at the same time but we are in our own boats.  I guess that's weird that we don't fish together but we do our own thing and are happy about it.

I fish alone 70% of the time but I have a group of friends I fish with and they're always fun to hang out with and talk to especially if the fishing is slow or really hot and we're all getting on them. Personally if I had to prefer I would say fishing alone or fishing with someone who's also not a heavy chatterbox is preferred.. I'm more intune with the fishing and usually do better in terms of catching.

Another music thread… ?

Reminds me of a good George Thorogood And The Destroyers song...

I fish alone, yeah / With nobody else

Yeah, you know when I fish alone / I prefer to be by myself.

Mostly I go alone, but my fiance will drag her kayak out on occasion.

I also partner up with a fairly well-recognized yt fishing guy.  He shows me new places, and I show him how to catch big bass lol!

Last week we went, he must've caught 35+ big bluegills, and I brought in a limit of largemouths.

When I was heavy into guiding, I had clients on the boat or I was scout fishing for upcoming trips, usually by myself.   I enjoyed solitary fishing but with as many days as I spent on the water, I burned myself out.  When I went to Florida, I fished a couple of tournament trails and spent a lot of time by myself as well.  I have always said that if you really want to get to know someone, spend a day with them in a boat.  When it “clicks” with a fishing partner, it’s something special.  I’ve had the same fishing partner for 25 years and since he’s still working and I’m retired, he makes me get out on days I would rather sit in the laz-e-boy ?  Now I fish for the pure enjoyment and not to escape life’s trials since I’m retired.  I find myself not needing the alone time as much and it’s total fun taking friends out or fishing with my longtime fishing partner.  My wife could care less about fishing. ?

I usually fish alone but I enjoy fishing with others.  I fish very differently when I’m alone.  I move from spot to spot very quickly until I find fish and I can spend hour just driving around staring at the fish finder.  I feel like I would drive someone else crazy doing this.

Probably around 95% or so I'm by myself. Sometimes my father or one of my brothers will get the itch to go with, and recently a buddy of mine has gotten hooked so I've been stopping by his local hole here and there to help him learn the ropes. I enjoy fishing with others, the friendly competition and company is nice, but I do enjoy setting my own pace when fishing alone.

The problem with fishing alone is that photography takes a nose dive in quality. I don’t do selfies and my dog can’t take a photo without thumbs. So my evidence is just a fish laying on a measuring board. A go pro or other camera isn’t going to happen either.

Why not - you can get one's that are pretty cheap. I have two of these...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B2W96JH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

All the vids and screen shots I've put up the past couple years came from them.

Add an external battery like this one

https://www.amazon.com/Portable-20000mAh-Charging-External-Compatible/dp/B094G1GL8T/ref=sr_1_20?crid=GSMB8QTHZV8M&keywords=Portable+Power+Battery+Bank+Pack&qid=1650235153&sprefix=portable+power+battery+bank+pack%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-20

And drop in a 128gb card (yes, despite the Vision 3 saying 32gb, I use a 128gb in it with no problems)

Under $100 total, and you can film all day long.

I fish alone.

I like to be up and out the door fishing at a certain time. When I am done I am done. A fishing session for me usually starts at sunrise and could last 3 or more hours.  I don’t want to subject anyone else to my schedule.

I used to fish alone most of the time. Had one regular fishing buddy for a few years. Ever since I had knee replacement surgeries in 2019 my wife has gone with me every time. She doesn't like to be out as long a I do but that is okay. I still get some time on the water and cut the trips shorter for her so it is okay.

I have an old friend that goes with me several times a year. I taught him to bass fish when we were teens, and I’m 61 now. We have never had a cross word between us all these years.

Other than him, I rarely have a regular fishing partner. My middle son moved up north, and he was the one I mostly saltwater fished with.

My g. daughter mackayla went with me a lot before she was 14. Now she’s nearly 17 , and has only been once in the last 3 years. Her older brother Tyler is the same way. What gets me is I put them on fish nearly every time.

So now it’s mostly the Lord and me.

I really enjoy it regardless of who’s there or not. I do miss the family not going ,especially my son. Hope he moves back some day soon.

I certainly don’t mind fishing with others, but the reality of my situation is that 99.9999999% of the time, I’m flying Han Solo.

That’s just how it is.  Many of the pluses of fishing alone have already been mentioned so I don’t need to reiterate but indeed, islandbass is fishing alone just about every time he goes fishing.

Learned this from a fishing guide: keep the big fish in the net in water ‘til you’re set up. Take your iphone (or Android, I guess) and prop it somewhere in the boat that gives you a good photo. Set the  camera on ‘selfie’ and set the timer to 10 seconds. Push the button, take the bass out of the net and hold it up ‘til the camera clicks- then release the fish. It works!
I mostly fish with my lab; trained her to sit still when the motor’s running, and she sits by me when I’m fishing. She gets  more excited than I do when I catch a bass!

Social entertainment is what bowling night is for . I fish alone mostly . I'm quieter , can get the boat positioned correctly , get all the good cast and catch all the fish .

I lean my iPhone 8 on the front fishing seat with a 5 second delay. Works pretty good.

As far as selfies , I dont even use a tripod anymore . There is always something to prop the camera with, set the timer to 10 seconds and click .

Sure does.  I will have to try it.  Didn't even realize my phone was capable of that and it never even crossed my mind.  Good call

My previous phone, an ancient Galaxy S-4 was capable of this...man you gotta stop being a part-time luddite. :wink1:

I almost always fish alone.  And I prefer it that way.  Usually because all of my friends don't really fish, and when they do want me to take them fishing, their idea of fishing is tossing a minnow or worm on a bobber and sitting in a lawn chair under a shade tree while drinking beer.  And that's frustrating for me, because it's not really fishing.

Also, I'm not a fan of alcohol.  I don't have anything against it on a moral level.  It's just when I'm about halfway through the second beer I get a headache and want to take a nap, which doesn't make for a fun social mood.
