Super User Jig Man Posted April 15, 2022 Super User Posted April 15, 2022 I’ve never heard of a boat dealer offering a warranty other than selling the buyer a third party warranty. What part of the country are these dealers in? 1 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted April 15, 2022 Super User Posted April 15, 2022 Never heard of it not being a third party and that applies to everything - cars, boats, houses, horses, lawnmowers, and shovels. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 15, 2022 Super User Posted April 15, 2022 Price should be at the bottom of your priority list. 2 Quote

If I have $30k to buy a boat, I would buy the safest and most fishable boat for the body of water I fish most, at that price point. Buying used might be a better option. $30K on a 500 acre lake will be a different boat than $30K on a 50,000 acre lake which will be a different $30K on the Great Lakes. 2 Quote

Deephaven Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 For $30k you can get a 21' boat with a 250, great trolling motor, newer graphs and batteries and be way ahead 3 years from now in comparison if you buy a new low end boat 1 Quote
Super User ATA Posted April 15, 2022 Author Super User Posted April 15, 2022 Used boat are not that much cheaper than brand new also, I think it is because of the electronics and engines. this is one as example: used:$37,950 new: $34595 https://www.boattrader.com/boat/2019-skeeter-zx-190-8240556/ https://www.skeeterboats.com/Skeeter-Boat.php?id=101 Quote

Wait a couple months most likely you will find a lightly used new boat for super cheap cause the repo man is coming or the bank already got it back. Lots of folks went in during the pandemic and are now going to get crushed, sucks for them but if you have the finances you are primed to take advantage. Just my .02 cents. That’s why I opted for an older model new kayak, got it at a discount cause everyone wanted the newest and a 2yr old boat wouldn’t move. Amen!!! Everything is getting out of hand. Entry level boats over $30K? High end boats and trucks over $100K? There's going to be a financial reckoning. To the point, nothing wrong with either Nitro or Triton. You probably won't find a new rig any cheaper unless you can find some left over 2020 or 2021 rigs. Personally, I wouldn't buy new right now. Heck, I wouldn't buy used unless it's a deal. 2 Quote
SWVABass Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Yep I bought a new house before the housing market went nuts, so my family had a sweet place and I bought a kayak. I’ll pay less to fish a tournament and back seat it with someone and help off set their gas cost. Then when everything goes to hell I’ll be sitting pretty ??? 1 Quote

I don't know what kind of boat traffic your lake gets. My home water is the busiest inland waterway, per acre, in the US. The reason I bring this up is it can get rough out where I fish. It's a shallow body of water. Shallow water is affected more by wind than deep water. Compound that with the wake boats and pleasure boats, it can get rough. We have an area called the "washtub" and another called "suicide alley". On my home water a 20 footer or larger is the way to go. I ran a 17 footer out there for years and when I moved up to a 20 footer, the difference was like night and day. 2 Quote
gm4511 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Good grief, when did a fiberglass 17'-18' bass boat equiped with a high performance engine, needed options, safety equipment, and a great warranty become unsuitable for a beginning boater. I've never owned a bass boat over 18' and was ignorantly happy for all those years. ATA, the dealer WRB recommended looks like an established and full service dealer. Climb all over the Nitro and Triton and see which one you like. One other suggestion is to consider a Platinum Warranty for the Mercury. Don't bother with the Gold plan, it doesn't cover much. Good luck and enjoy! 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Everything pre owned is getting top dollar since there’s no inventory of new stuff. 2 Quote
NoShoes Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I couldn’t imagine paying that much for a toy. I’ve been very fortunate to come across dam good deals though. It does get tempting seeing the monthly payment on a new Ranger though ? Quote

Covid killed late model pricing. 10 years ago I sold my 04 521 and today it is worth the same as what I sold it for. It is still WAY, WAY more boat than what you are looking at and less money. 1 Quote
