OldBlueEyes Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Can Navionics maps be downloaded on an iMac and overlayed on Google Earth? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 8, 2022 Super User Posted April 8, 2022 There's a Navionics app available for Android and IOS - they don't have a Windows or Mac version. it's proprietary data and only available in a portable form a few ways On a fishfinder that supports Navionics data. On an Android or IOS device running the app. On any device using the website. Don't know of any way to get the Navionics data to overlay on Google Earth - though the Navionics maps do show roads, towns and launch ramps. Quote

The navionics website will take care of the first. I don't know a way to do the second. thanks rick Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 8, 2022 Super User Posted April 8, 2022 @OldBlueEyes can you explain why you need to do this? What's the goal? Quote
OldBlueEyes Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 The goal is to place a contour map over Google Earth so that when I locate a spot that I want to fish, Google Earth will give me the GPS coordinates. I’ve done this with NOAA maps, but they are quite old, in many cases lack detail, and are no longer accurate because of their age. I was hoping that Navionics maps might be more up-to-date. Quote

Two things: If you use SonarChart, maps are updated constantly by users. It's in the lower right. If you use the mobile Boating app, you can get the GPS coordinates. Quote
OldBlueEyes Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 Unfortunately, I don’t have SonarChart – just a Lowrance Depth Finder. Thanks for the information. Quote

Thanks for the information. on the free navionics website you can choose sonar chart or navionics mapping. It’s one of the map options. Quote

Thanks for the information. If you have a tablet or smart-phone, you can run the app on that. My Garmin is a Striker - no built in maps...so I have the app running on my 8" Galaxy Tab. With the GPS active on the tablet, I basically have the mapping that the Echomaps have. 1 Quote
@reelChris Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 I'm pretty sure newer Mac computers can run ios apps. Check the app store. Quote
