CGray97 Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 What's everyone's preference as far as brands for Rod sleeves and Reel covers or do you even use them personally? Been eyeing some Amazon specials but don't know if they're junk or not. Want to try to keep my new rigs as nice as possible Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 6, 2022 Super User Posted April 6, 2022 I use the rod glove ones that are $4.99 at TW and I use the TW low profile reel covers. 4 Quote

Johnbt Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I like the Rod Glove sleeves, but I have more of the Rod Warrior 2mm neoprene sleeves. I have all black, but they have color choices and length options. They can put your name on them too. https://rodwarriorusa.com They don't make reel covers, but they do make Power-Pole covers. 1 Quote
SproDD79 Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I've been happy with these, I really like the elastic band to keep the sleeve snug. https://www.linecutterz.com/collections/rod-shields/products/line-cutterz-edition-trc-rod-covers-w-strap-foam-tip Quote
newapti5 Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Rod Glove is good, but there're so many alternatives nowadays. For reel cover, TW's are pretty decent. I also use Academy's; they're quite nice for the price. https://www.academy.com/p/h2o-xpress™-baitcast-reel-cover?sku=blue-matte Quote
SmugOne Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I just made my own rod sleeves with this stuff. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074M2RBZZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 got reel covers from TW when they were on sale. 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted April 6, 2022 Super User Posted April 6, 2022 I use what ever Bass Pro sells. The way my rod locker is designed I have to have them to protect the line guides. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 6, 2022 Super User Posted April 6, 2022 $17 for a reel cover? I thought $6 was bad. Can't image having over $1000 invested in reel covers. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted April 6, 2022 Super User Posted April 6, 2022 I like the Rod Glove rod covers. I've never used a reel cover. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 6, 2022 Super User Posted April 6, 2022 I don't use reel covers. However I am a big fan of Stick Jackets rod covers. They provide a very nice smooth, safe & tangle free method of sliding rigs in & out of the rod locker. A-Jay 2 Quote
Yeezy Fishing Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Rod Glove for rod covers and Shimano reel covers (even use them on my non Shimano reels). Quote
ABrugs Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I recently purchased the Pro Series neoprene Rod Glove cover along w/ their Reel Glove for a new setup and like them both. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 7, 2022 Super User Posted April 7, 2022 Lew's reel covers. Bass pro or dicks sleeves. Quote
@reelChris Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I've lost enough rod covers that I want them cheap enough that they're basically disposable. Usually you can get 10 for $20-25 on ebay. 1 Quote
volzfan59 Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I use the BPS neoprene type reel covers and the BPS nylon with an adjustable strap type rod cover for storage purposes. I'm going to get the other type that BPS sells to use in the new rod lockers in my boat as I feel that they will offer more protection for the rod eye's while in the boat. Quote
Wprich Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I like the outkast tackle sleeves have them on all my rods https://www.omniafishing.com/p/outkast-slix-spinning-rod-cover/color*black__blue--material length*6' Quote
TcRoc Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I use these off Amazon for sleeves. Work great for me https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TNPX6DL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4611WX30SNGXV347FBRZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 7, 2022 Super User Posted April 7, 2022 Tackle warehouse rod sleeves & reel covers. Quote
Big Swimbait Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Another vote for Rod Warrior. The quality is exceptional. 1 Quote
Super User webertime Posted April 7, 2022 Super User Posted April 7, 2022 These are amazing. https://rodprotech.com/ No tangles, no guides popping through, no other hooks nicking your line. Spinning sock is so cool. Quote
throttleplate Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 i like to look at my stuff and not try to geuss whats covered up. I am not afraid of dust or scratches. 1 Quote
Super User Bankc Posted April 7, 2022 Super User Posted April 7, 2022 Just get whatever is cheapest. I've bought a lot of different brands over the years. I own more H20 (Academy house brand) covers than any other, but they all work about the same, as far as I'm concerned. Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 7, 2022 Super User Posted April 7, 2022 The company I worked 50 years for had a braiding department and made all kinds of braids including Expando braid that the rod sleeves today are. I have used expando braid for rod sleeves for decades before the product hit the market. Being in the aerospace business just didn’t see the commercial use...dummy, didn’t see the forest from the trees. Reel covers I always used white cotton gym shocks for my reels to protect them. When Tackle Warehouse 1st opened they gave away reel cover with $100 purchases, now it’s tee shirts. Tom 2 Quote
ErieCan Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 The amazon cheapies are mesh and your rod tips will poke through. I still use them but I wrapped some electrical tape around the top 3-4" to fix the problem. 1 Quote
