…except the damned BM. I don’t think I really need another rig. I have three spinning and 5 baitcasting rigs that cover just about every presentation for Neds to frogs. But need and want are two different things.

I have no desire for another spinning rig. As far as baitcasters, I have a MF, a MHMF, two MHF and a HF. The HF is set up for casting frogs, and the MHMF is my crankbait rig. I fish from an inflatable that’s low in the water, so I do not need a rig for pitching or flipping. And I’m not looking into acquiring a BFS rig. So discounting those, what niche do I need to fulfill?

Whatever pleases you.id get a super high speed reel and a 7-3 mhm to fish lipless cranks on braid

Ruling out BFS is missing out on casting Fun (with a capital F).

Pocket rocket reels are a hoot, spinning is productive fishing, but BFS is FUN (and did I say fun?)

deep crank rod?

BM has me wanting also, I found a fury 704c for $75 but I canceled it.

I fish mostly in waters no deeper than 8’-9’, so likely not a pressing issue. Although I’m starting to branch out to different bodies of water.

Maybe just a upgrade of whatever your favorite technic is.

That was a thought. Actually, a good thought.

Well, instead  of a new rig, how'bout a high end reel?

Shimano Conquest 100.

It's a slice of heaven!

Buy a rod and reel that will cast large swim baits or glide baits.  Then the next time you get the urge to buy something you don't need, you can buy some expensive glide baits.

Then I’d need a really good G. Loomis or similar to pair it with.

There's nothing wrong with having duplicate rods, but set up with different lures.  At least I hope not since I have quite a few duplicates.  I'm not at liberty to say how many.  :teeth:

If I remember correctly you like to fish plastics.  I have more MHF than any other power/action.  Most are 1/4-3/4 or 1/4-1 oz.  That range handles about everything I throw at um.

You have a good memory. That may be the road I go. A real quality rod with a decent reel.  I spend more time fishing various soft plastics than any other bait type. Kinda makes sense to upgrade there.

The falcon expert 6’10” finesse jig rod is a great stick and would be right up your alley. Great for lighter jigs and plastics. Will walk a sexy dawg all day. I like mine for a chatterbait also. Very light weight and really crisp but not stiff. Probably my favorite rod of all I have.

if you really want to satisfy the bait monkey, I put an abu mgx on it and they are on sale most places right now.

I’ve had my eye on that rod. For finess jigs and 1/8 t rigs. With a rage craw or something similar

I’ve been thinking about a finesse setup for a little while just for the fun of it. Nothing crazy lite or anything maybe Ned rigs or meps spinners. You’re posts are certainly helping me along.

How does that rod stack up against the Cara?

I don’t have a cara so can’t compare. In reading and researching there is a split preference between the current experts and caras.  I went expert and love it so much I’ve added two more experts (amistad and head turner). I also have a couple bucoos that I’m slowly upgrading into experts (the head turner is the first upgrade rather than straight add).

I would have a custom rod made for my favorite presentation.  Best thing you could add IMO....but beware once you do that you will want to do your 2nd favorite.

I will say that my current Falcon (a MHF Lowrider All-‘Round Fast) is my favorite out of all the rods I own. That Expert intrigues me.

That’s a rabbit hole. I once seriously considered having a custom rifle chambered in .411 Hawk (a .30-‘06 case blown out and loaded with .411-caliber Hawk 400-grain bullets. That got out-of-hand with $$$$ real fast. Custom rods are likely a little too pricey for my wallet.

i knew you had the mhf low rider and while I don’t have that one, I have the trapcaster which is the mhmf.  If I were to stiffen up the trapcaster to a fast action it would feel pretty close to the expert finesse jig.
