I've had AT&T forever, but I'm thinking of changing. At first I was just looking to upgrade my old iPhone 8 Plus to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and it has snowballed from there. I have an old AT&T rollover plan, but now they are doing away with the plan and that got me looking around.

T-Mobile has some 55+ plans, and AT&T's senior (oh how I hate typing that) plans are limited to just a few states and I don't live in one of those. I can save some money on a T-Mobile plan, and they are giving me more money for my trade in.

Those are all great, but I'm interested how current T-Mobile users like their coverage and service. T-Mobile also seems to nickel and dime me on the back end with upgrades for things like spam protection and service (another $18 a month).

Do you have any good or bad T-Mobile stories?

I'm on Sprint/T-mobile. 5G coverage is great in my area. No complaints.

I now have T-Mobile for my personal phone (Note 20 ultra with 5G), and it gets good coverage.   My work phone has Verizon, and there are times I get reception with it where the personal phone won't, but the reverse is true as often if not more.  I can't comment on speed, because the Verizon phone is not 5G compatible.

We've been on T-Mobile 55+ plan for over four years now. Can't complain at 30.00 a line. I don't fully benefit from it like my wife does because I'm still in the dark ages on a 4 yr. old flip phone. That's why my fish pics are so crummy.

I had T-Mobile for 2 days.  The service was spotty at my house and I spend a lot of time here so I had to cancel.  I live in the country so it’s not surprising but Verizon coverage is good here.  I was impressed with their customer service when I called to cancel.  They seemed to be trying a little harder than the other companies.

Despite higher rates - stopped trying the others years ago and am loyal to AT&T. I've been places where my AT&T connects...and no one else can even get one bar.

T-Mobile is big here, what I have.

Reception in the mountains and valley are very good.

Wife is on Verizon, company provides TMobile for me.  My internet is faster, call audio is better and it works nearly every were her phone does and often up north I have better coverage.  Regardless of price in MN I would get TMobile.

Ok, not if it were way more...but it is worth more to me.

I ditched Verizon a few months ago and went with one of the cheap services, called "Ting".

My plan is $25/month (5 gigs of data, unlimited talk and text) but you can go as low as $10 (with option to add data).

I can use my old Samsung phone too. Had to buy a new SIM card for $1.

Ting is fine for the phone calls and text and I haven't had a single issue. They use various networks like Verizon and I think T-Mobile, and you get great phone coverage because of it.

The downside is if you rely on data. If there's a lot of data traffic the actual Verizon customers get the faster speeds, yours will be slower. I don't surf the web on my phone so I couldn't care less.

So far I'm happy with it. Very happy to ditch that $75/month Verizon bill, especially these days. I can always go back but I don't see why I would.

I have T-Mobile. Coverage is good for me for the most part and they offer special discounts for me because of my work.

I've been using t-mobile since 2007.  Sometimes the network cuts out depending on your location, but I have never been anywhere where phone calls and texts would not work.

My wife and I are with Verizon, thinking about changing over to Consumer Cellular.

I have T-Mobile, started with Virgin Mobile, they got bought by Sprint, who in turn got gobbled up by T-Mobile, as a driver for a living I get around a lot, and I don't care which service you choose sooner or later you'll find bad coverage if you travel widely enough, long as you end up with a price you can live with, and you get good service where you spend the vast majority of your time (home, work, common hobby locations) and you like the customer service, one is as good as the other in my book.

I went with T-Mobile and my new iPhone 12 Pro Max is due to arrive tomorrow. It was kind of a no-brainer in the end because not only do I have a cheaper plan but also Netflix is included plus I get a year free of MLB.TV, Apple TV, and Paramount+.

I loved AT and T when I had it and loved it. I too have sprint/T-Mobile and it’s shocking that in the Seattle area, T-Mobile just sucks — at least in places I need it. So many dead spots in my area.  I was initially with sprint but the merger did not improve coverage.

I visit my sister in freaking small Tucson arizona, and I can’t believe how good the coverage is for T-Mobile compared to Seattle.  ??

In my own house, it’s barely one freaking bar and I don’t live in the boondocks, lol. You can’t even get BR’s webpage to download, lol.

@Koz I just hope T-Mobile’s coverage is better in your area.

It's actually better than the AT&T coverage that I had. It's even better with all of the free stuff and T-Mobile Tuesdays. Next Tuesday they are giving away a Tesla.

Very interesting. I guess it really depends on where you live and that the coverage from the various companies can really vary by area.  Come on T-Mobile! You gotta step it up in Seattle, lol.

It's been downhill since T-Mobile merged with Sprint.  The mentality and chaos that sunk Sprint has infested T-Mobile.  Doesn't help that they laid off over 5,000 seasoned professionals shortly after the merger was finalized (despite the previous claims they wouldn't lay anyone off), creating huge voids in leadership and tribal knowledge that can never be filled.

Remember when T-Mobile was breaking the rules and doing things that forced the industry to change (The Uncarrier)? It's been pure crickets since the merger with Sprint. Those days are over.

It's only a matter of time before they, too, circle the drain.  Their stock has been floundering while the NASDAQ has been gaining, with many "experts" advising to sell, or lowering its rating.

AT&T ticked me off. They claimed my new phone wouldn't work after they switched off ? 3g. I knew it would. Argued with them for months about it.

They sent me a new SIM card and a junk phone with VoLTE. They weren't supposed to disable my old SIM card, but they did on the shutoff date. No biggie; I ran through activation with the junk phone so I could switch SIM cards.

Except mobile internet didn't work on the new phone. They had entered the wrong friggin APN settings, and I couldn't fix this without rooting the phones. I swapped the SIM cards anyway, and went without 4g internet while I researched new carriers.

Ended up buying a Moto G Stylus, which is more powerful than my Samsung A10s and allows me to run most of my business from it. Specifically, it has more RAM, which I needed.

Because AT&T ticked me off several times over the years, I specifically went with Sprint/T-Mobile, through Patriot Mobile. While I'm sure the marketing hype for Patriot is largely a gimmick, I had a code that kept me from paying setup and switchover fees.

So far I'm happy. I'm not getting unsolicited marketing texts from AT&T anymore, and only the occasional political text. I can opt out of these any time, too, if I get tired of them.

Performance in this area isn't any better or worse than AT&T. They're shutting the Sprint towers down very soon, so we'll see after that, but I anticipate no problems.

I started using Consumer Cellular last year. Bought an IPhone 12 that came with a T Mobile SIM card in it. Coverage was spotty and had slow download speeds. Called them up and they sent me an AT&T SIM card and coverage was a lot better.  I think a lot of it depends on where you live

5g is terrible service where I live, cell phones basically quit working when they connect to 5g. I drop calls with customers all the time, never happened until the new “better” network came about

my flip phones and iPhone 5 worked way better than my iPhone 11 and 13 ever dreamed of working

as with television, the technology is going backward instead of forward

I have been using AT&T cell phone service for years without problems.  Last fall they upgraded me to a Galaxy A12.  This phone is the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen.  Half the time the touch screen doesn't work.  When I use it next to my desktop computer, it drops or garbles calls. It's so bad I have to make calls outside my house.  I tried talking to tech support and it was like trying to call Putin.  I spoke with so many robots, I started modifying my voice to sound like them.  I am stuck in AT&T prison and can't get out!!  ?

When I upgraded from my old Galaxy S-4 a couple years ago (ya, I hung onto that relic for almost a decade) I went with the Galaxy A51. This thing has been rock-solid.

Still happy with AT&T after 25 years...
