Hey guys I need your help.so currently I’m planning on buying a new rod and I was wondering if 6,8 medium power fast action rod is good for jerkbaits and top water and jigs,3.5-5 inch plastic swim baits  or in other words universal rod ,but more leaned in into what I said,or should I get a moderate fast action rod that’s 6,8 reason is because I want something portable to carry around in a  car.I plan on matching it with a 7.0.1bgear ratio on 12 in 100% carbon. Oh and I already have a Medium Heavy 7,1 fast action rod. Please advice me.

I think your MH is the better choice for the jigs and swimbaits. For jerks and topwaters I prefer a mod fast but it's purely personal preference. No right or wrong there, just a matter of what YOU like best. That said, if you're gonna throw all the above on one rod, fast is the way to go.

Not sure your talking spinning or casting.  Either way a 6'8 M F are made for JB/topwater so it should do great for that.  The weight of the jig heads your going to use is a big factor with the swimbaits.  As for the jigs your better off using the MH unless your talking some really light finesse jigs.
