Smokinal Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 I've heard that their bills are a weak spot but never broke one before....until this morning. We were fishing a cove that still had some ice on it and I had just mentioned to my buddy not to let is 110 hit the ice as their bills break easily. What do I do just a few casts later....break a bill off a limited run color...Al Kin Gil These are impossible to find. Can the bill be replaced? Anyone know of someone I can send it to that has done this? Anyone have an Al Kin Gil they would part with? Quote
jbrew73 Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 You can bill a new one to your credit card.? I have no first hand experience but I believe there is a guy that repairs them and I’ve read megabass will replace them if mailed back. 1 8 Quote

Super User J._Bricker Posted April 3, 2022 Super User Posted April 3, 2022 I feel your pain @Smokinal. I was up at Clear Lake a couple weeks ago and was on great early morning jerkbait bite when the bill of my Vision 110 broke for some unknown reason. It was the only one I had at the time and the only color they seemed to want. Sent it off to Megabass on the recommendation of the guide I fished with and am waiting for Megabass’ response. After all, it’s worth a shot to see if Megabass will repair or replace the lure in my opinion. 1 Quote

Super User Bird Posted April 3, 2022 Super User Posted April 3, 2022 As expensive as they are, submit to your insurance company and perhaps a body shop can reconstruct ? 2 6 Quote

Super User king fisher Posted April 4, 2022 Super User Posted April 4, 2022 At the price they charge for 110's I would expect them to simply grow a new and improved bill. Put it in a bowl of water, and add some miracle grow to the water and see what happens. 1 3 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted April 4, 2022 Super User Posted April 4, 2022 Seems to me that a custom paint job might be a better option than a reconstruction. The other golds, like Perch, wouldn't be close enough? (Admittedly, I'm not as color conscious as most) 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 4, 2022 Super User Posted April 4, 2022 A little off topic, but fishing in Maine this time of year is pretty cold. I was up there on Friday and felt the chill in the air, so I can imagine what the water temps were like. I wonder how much the coldness affects the plastic on those baits. Must be petty brittle I would guess? Quote
KP Duty Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I have fixed a few cranks with broken bills. I use the circuit board lips and just glue it on top of the broken lip. If the lip is broken off flush and there is nothing to glue the new lip on....I don't have a fix for that. Quote
EWREX Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 i've done it before. cost is right around 24.99 to do so 1 4 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted April 4, 2022 Super User Posted April 4, 2022 No chance on a bait like that. The action would never be the same. One option is to leave it as is and see what happens or add some lead tape. Quote

A-Jay Guilty too except I clipped my buddy's engine with a jointed Spro swimbait. Luckily the bait exploded into pieces and not the engine cover. 1 Quote

Or is a Megabass ignition fob far superior? 2 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 4, 2022 Super User Posted April 4, 2022 Yes, you have to sand away all the remnants of the old bill. Cut a slot and epoxy a new bill in. Allen 2 Quote
mcipinkie Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Guess what fellows, Megabass made the bill and glued it in when they built the bait. You can too if you have good hands and are patient. It would, admittedly, take a lot work and testing to get it right in the basement, but it could be done, especially if the lure was something special or just hard to replace. I wouldn't, but I'm sure it can be done. 1 Quote
