Those of you that have ordered a JDM Metanium or any model for that matter from Digitaka..did you receive a confirmation email for your order? Just curious as it said I'd recieve an email but have not gotten anything in my inbox or spam folder. Maybe an email is only sent when the item has shipped or what am I missing?

Yes it was the correct email, I had to confirm it twice.  Money has came out of my account already but never received an email for my order.

If you used a credit card for the purchase, then you can always dispute the charges if the vendor doesn't come through.  I've rarely had to use that option but every time I have, the CC company/issuing bank did right by me.

I did use my debit card. I've heard good things about them so I assume everything will be good (I hope) just weird I didn't receive an email regarding my order like it had said I would.

Yes. It's the weekend. Did you...E-mail digitaka asking them before posting here....? Digitaka is one of the most reputable JDM vendors around. email them and understand the time difference waiting for a response.

I'm not complaining by any means, was just curious if anyone else has experienced this. It literally says "a confirmation email has been sent for your order" right after you purchase. Most companies have an automated email that's sent after an order. I have not received that email was my concern. I did go ahead and contact them regarding it, so we will see. I'm not worried, and I'm positive everything with show up as it should,  just thought it was strange.

I've had times when my reel was in the US and almost in my hand before I got an email.  3-5 business days, time difference included, has been my norm over 6-7 purchases.

It takes a couple of days. If you are frustrated with UPS, FEDEX, USPS...Don't hold your breath on the oversea shipping racket. Shipping, in general, sucks. It makes me want to call the guy on the movie Castaway. Maybe he could fix the issues. Heck I'll trust anybody who could make a hatchet out of an ice skate!

Ordered last week Tuesday night. Got email right away and shipment info a few days later. Arrived today...all the way from Japan. Faster than TW.  Unfortunately my Metanium might have an issue. Handle does not spin freely. Takes a slight amount of force to turn, more than I've experienced with any reel.  Feels like the entire thing might be over loaded with grease.  Anyone ever experienced this with a Shimano reel?

I'd hate to have to open up a brand new high end reel to try to figure this out. This is my first order from Japan and first Metanum. I'll probably email them too of course. Can't imagine returns to Japan are very fun.

I've heard this said a lot about the new Metanium.   Just fish it and it should free up with use.

Check that the cast control (spool tension) knob isn't cranked down stupid tight.

Yeah that was first thing I checked.

Take the sideplate off, turn the brakes off, replace the sideplate, then try spinning the handle.

Took spool out and it's the same way with spool completely out. Was grease on the spool shaft pin and I've never seen that so really assuming must be packed with grease.

Which shop did you buy from?

I purchased a Metanium 20 thru Pay Pal & got a receipt from them. It was shipped on the 1st. & I received it on the morning of the 4th. I have done a good bit of business with them & don't ever remember getting a receipt from Digitaka.

Go to the digitaka site and check for messages there. Thats usually where they will post shipping info. I usually dont get emails about shipping.

Did you check your spam/junk mail folder? I've had order confirmations from retailers (even Cabelas) end up in my spam folder.

I received confirmation and tracking yesterday, I will learn to be more patient lol thanks guys.

Interesting. Have you found the solution? I read somewhere to take spool tension knob off as they sometimes pack them with grease, clean all grease out and then lube with low viscosity oil and it will cure it but not sure how true that is.

I ordered a new metanium from Japanlureshop.com. it came within a week. My reel was the same way. Very "sticky" feeling inside. I've found that all of my shimanos really smooth out after a season or two. You could tear it down and soak the bearings in acetone and once they're dry put 1 drop of the bantam oil back in the dry bearing. I've had luck loosening it up with use. This reel is SMOOTH AS SILK.

I'm confused. You got one in the past that was sticky but just got a new one recently that's smooth?

Digitaka replied that it should get better with use but I could return if I chose.

I'm going to open it up tomorrow and find out what's going on. Will follow up.
