The point of trout fishing is busting far away from the crowds to where the trout don't know the difference between stocked and native.

This for me mostly^^^^^^, I must say though over in Japan they pay to fish stocked ponds and do it as a sport, kind of like who can catch and release the most. For me stocked trout fishing was an excellent way to learn how to set the hook and learn what a bite feels like. Helped me get into bass fishing alot easier with less frustration.

I sure dont, slimy boogers

If you don't like trout because they're "slimy," you will HATE northern pike.  They are covered in a stinky, snotty slime.  You can smell it on your hands for days too.

And if Northerns are slimy for you, then you'd REALLY hate pickerel.  They are called snot rockets for a reason.

Don't forget about the smell.  Keep them off the carpet if you have it.

The kayak has a semi fibrous semi foam bottom that is hard to describe other than- it gets wet.  Wet means it soaks up the slime and smell. I picked up a wet suit cleaner to get rid of the funk smell and it works. I just leave the plugs in a fill up the boat with an inch of water to let it soak. Pull the plug and rinse it out.

Ha! Well I don’t want to go to court but I also don’t want to support the stocking program. Unless they see you targeting trout or obviously keeping trout, you don’t have to have the stamp

I buy both of the WI trout stamps, though I seldom use them.  I look at it, with my TU membership, as a contribution to the resource.

I have a co-worker who regularly fishes the Kinnickinnic River in eastern Wisconsin near River Falls and I swear all he catches are dinky browns.  He says a 16 inch brown from that river is huge.  Most of the time he sends me photos of 10 or 12 inchers and I'm just not that impressed lol.  Maybe that is good size for a "stream" trout.  I'm not a trout guy so I really have no comparison for a 10 inch brown trout, but I regularly catch bigger crappies than that.

I've caught bluegills bigger than that.

You're 100% correct.

Only nuts fish for esox, and all the normal, rational people should avoid them like the plague!

The all-time slime demon is gafftopsail catfish on the coast.

While the meat is quite good, handling these fish and dealing with their plastic slime on everything (your line, your rod) is a horror.

I don’t mind the slime of trout, I just never miss a chance to say anything derogatory about stockers (waste of resources)

Have not been on this site much the last few weeks. PA Trout fishing in the afternoons into the evenings on my way home from work.

We’ve been getting our share of rain around here. Creeks have been high and off color. When it gets cleared up we get another heavy rain. Fish are spread out pretty well.

I don’t put a lot of time in around bridges or community holes. I don’t follow the stocking truck around. (Not to say I’ve never stocked a trout though).

Get off the beaten path away from others. Venture out to some wild or native trouts if there are some close. Take a fly rod to those stocked trout.

I could go on a rant about a few things with the PA Fish Commission but I won’t. The last few seasons have not been the norm. Hate to blame Covid but I think it has not helped. They will blame their short coming on manpower and Covid. Their stocking process in some parts have a lot to be desired. If we get big rains and small flash floods once a week that will push those fish to places they are to lazy to stock.
