Just bought a curado mgl 150. Still waiting on it to get here. I ordered it in 6:2:1. Is there a big enough difference in the Curado mgl and Metanium to purchase a Metanium also? Don't want to burn more money if it's not a huge difference between the two.

They both will provide service a long time.   There are some  surprising complaints on the 2020 Metanium getting rough feeling by even a Shimano man who sponsors another board.  I own one and haven't experienced it.  It's sweet.  But I haven't used it that much.

My Met20 is still smooth but my main complaint is the brake adjustment dial on mine gets stuck to the point of not being able to adjust it. I have loosened the three tiny screws that hold the dial assembly in and over oiled it to no avail. The main advantage of the met is ergonomics, very comfortable reel and casts light baits very well with minimal effort on the cast. I can lob a weightless zman bangstick 50-75 feet with a wrist flick. The curado mgl has two extra brake blocks on the spool so that might help tame the SVS a little better. I don't think you could go wrong with either reel.

There are enormous differences between the two reels.

The body material is more rigid in the Met, and the tolerances are much tighter for all components. On another site a user measured the sound transmission of the Met and new Zillion and the data points to the rigidity may improve bite detection. This is an unbelievably small nudge but it’s neat to know the material does serve a benefit. You cannot use the Met in brackish or salt water. While it has a coating magnesium will corrode from salt water over time.

The spool is better for a range of baits, I can throw 1/8oz shakey heads without issue on my Mets compared to my bantams and curados. The spacing of the line guide and spool allow a more smooth cast, unlike the bantam which is slightly choked.

From a smoothness factor, they are night and day. Now the Curado isn’t a slouch, and by no means a bad reel but there is a reason the price is higher on the Met.

Speaking of price if you’re interested in stepping into a Met I’d buy JDM. The reels both have brass gears and are the same body, and internally identical. The only difference is the handle on JDM reels is 84 or 86mm instead of 90 with slightly smaller knobs. The spool is also a 100 vs. 150 size JDM vs USDM. You can find a JDM Met new from reputable sellers for around $260 shipped.

I own 5 JDM Mets and have been extremely pleased with them. I sold my USDM Curado DC, and Bantams to fund them and 100% would do it again.

That vibration thread to me just seemed to just show "yeah the zillion is smoother and its not my imagination, here is data that proves it".  Its a case of the metanium being made from magnesium with gears that aren't as smooth as the zillions.

The second portion is what I focused on where he tested vibration transmission not just from the gear rotation.

I personally have both a zillion and mets and they are both really smooth  i can't discern much difference. I like the clutch engagement better on the zillion like the feel of the met better both cast great.I do think the met transmits bites better than the zillion.

I have a bunch of metaniums and just bought a curado mgl to try it out. I'll put it like this, I sold the curado very quickly. Metanium is the best reel on the market right now period, especially at the jdm price.

I enjoy the Curado but just ordered a jmd Met to try as well. If it's any better I will be ordering more as well
