Helix 10 G3N Side Imaging is dark, DI/2D is fine

Hey all, my Helix 10 bow unit is connected to an Ultrex MSI. First time out this spring, and the SI was really dark. There are some lines, but not much going on, even after a default reset. The DI and 2D view work fine. I switched the SI source to the console transducer and it looked as it should, scrolling lines and structure.

I took the bow Helix off the flush mount, checked connections at the ethernet box and Helix, and nothing changed. Anything else I should check? Otherwise I'm thinking the Ultrex transducer side elements broke? Seems kind of odd that both would not break at the same time though.

I bought a Garmin Echomap unit (used) and my Sidevu had the same issue but ClearVu worked fine. It ended up being the SideVu crystals were damaged.

Yep, mine's similar to your right view, and bare on the left. That's what I'm afraid of, but the Ultrex is warrantied, so I might just wait until the end of this season to get it fixed.

So it ended up being a cable that hooks up to the Helix G3N. From the Ultrex built-in transducer, it goes into the Ultrex control head where it has a connection to an extension cable. This cable then goes to the Helix G3N, but with another adapter cable for the Helix. MK replaced the whole lower unit, but that didn't fix the image, but they sent me the two cables which I replaced myself and it now works. Not sure which one of the two cables was damaged, both look good outside with no crimps and the connectors looked good too. The warranty department at MK is great to deal with.
