Tatulatard Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 If it is a locked down drag reel with flat washers then you can leave it locked down and it won't loosen over time from spring washers deforming, because it has none. Quote

detroit1 Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 I guess i'm just ignorant...i don't see any advantage of a locked - downed drag on any reel type. White is the new green ! Quote

I thought I read that somewhere unless I imagined it or was looking at a diff reel right after. Ha ha. I haven’t checked the site in a bit so definitely confused there. Was curious on this reel though. the mysteries of kastking. Quote
Cbump Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 I see an advantage. I use 20lb line on my pitching setups and have the drag locked down pretty good. Close quarters, Hard hook set, get in boat. If needed, engage thumb bar. Seems this reel is marketed for heavy Braid line and frogging/topwater. 65lb Braid, hard hook set, drag out of the muck, get in boat. 2 Quote

Fish are effectively weightless in the water and do not pull at their own body weight. If the drag slips on me (it doesn't) its because I slipped it with the energy I put into the system and not anything the fish did. The poor thing is probably pinned sideways against as a sandwich between me being an ape on the hookset and a branch. Quote

Basically, it’s a gimmick since you can just lock down drag on most reels and accomplish the same thing. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 I’m considering charging double for pinion gear replacement on these… just ‘cuz. Lol Quote

Throwaway is probably a little harsh. They’re a good value budget reel, but they need to stay in their lane. This is a sorry attempt at innovation better left to established brands. Imo 2 Quote
