But I don’t want that to be my all terrain vehicle. That head is too wide for grass and the long arm is too long for me to consider it to be an all purpose, and the short arm is too short. But they sure are good SBs! Quote

My favorite single blade is Zman BullZeye shown on bottom. Overall favorite is Sling bladez 3/8 shown on top. Quote
Super User king fisher Posted March 28, 2022 Super User Posted March 28, 2022 It would be as difficult for me to have only one spinnerbait, as it would to be limited to one wrench in my tool box, but if I could only have one, it would be a 1/2 oz black short arm single Colorado blade. 1 Quote

I found your YouTube ?. Pretty difficult. I love my thumpers but gun to my head, that bait will work in more situations. 2 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted March 28, 2022 Super User Posted March 28, 2022 For me it’s a 1/4 ounce War eagle double willow (nickel and gold blades) with purple Shad skirt. I mostly fish spinnerbaits shallow so this gets the call. I have tried many brands and war eagles get the most bites. The Nichols 33 mini double willows are a solid bait as well and the Hummdingers are fairly close to the war eagles and are good for anglers on a budget. 10 hours ago, gimruis said: The turtle back shaped blades really have a lot of "thump" to them. The titanium frame is extremely durable too. Pike ruin steel versions here pretty quick. Once the steel frame is bent, it really doesn't work anymore either. With the war eagles I had one pretty trashed on a couple of 18 “ smallies and bent it back each time and got a PB 21” smallie, I hit the smallie bite just right that day. The picture shows it after one fish, it was worse a couple of times. With the lighter wire spinnerbaits I just figure it’s part of the game. 1 Quote

I dont have any issues with the head grassing up, but I know what you mean about the arm lengths. The long arm is slow and the short arm is fast. I keep my spinnerbaits somewhat simple, I just use a few that happen to work well for me. When I want some vibration in a small but not quite micro size I really like Picassos Invizwire Thunder SB. The fish have been in a strange mood all month, either really aggresive or finicky. The water has stayed dirty too with all the rain and wind. Some days they chew the big Colorado SBs, but for whatever reason so far most days they slap the blade or dont bother with it at all. That picasso has really made a difference. I just wish they weren't 9$. I dont lose many SBs so it doesn't sting too bad. 1 Quote

Longer arm spinnerbaits come better through cover, especially wood, but I believe there is something to be said for the compactness of a spinnerbait in terms of presentation. Tighter, less boisterous profile and..... a more subtle pitch sound. That last part I've read on only a couple sources, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the truth. Either way, I'm fond of compact spinnerbaits... when I can get away with throwing them. If the cover I'm fishing is too thick, I don't want to be tossing a spinnerbait with a real short arm. Quote

Yeah I like a compact SB as well. Give those Picassos a try if you haven't already. 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted March 29, 2022 Super User Posted March 29, 2022 Gold, gold and more gold. I caught my PB on a gold War Eagle double willow in golden shiner pattern. I have since gone to the Megastrike Roland Martin Big Bass Spinnerbait in golden shiner pattern. It has an eye tie, the head is on a 90 degree swivel and it's heavier wire. The War Eagle's wire is just too flexy. The head gets loose on the wire and I've even broken a couple of them. I don't want to break one on a big ol' bass. 2 Quote
