I’ve had pretty good luck with Sufix 832 braid, so I’m tempted to try this. Anyone use it and what are your thoughts?

The mono?  I find it hard and keeps memory. Ties good knots and good abrasion resistance, but curls almost as bad as p-line cxx.

if you want to try suffix mono, elite is much better. I use 14 and 17 for most everything with 832 in 30 and 50 for special applications.

Ya that’s the stuff sorry I failed to indicate that originally. It’s labeled as Advanced Monofilament.

If you were local I’d give you the spool I have here (1 reel filled off a 300 yard spool).  That’s about how much I rate it.

Found a thread that’s 4 years old now. I’ll take more recent opinions though.

I have no problems with it. In fact I liked it so much on a casting and spinning reel i first tried it on, I bought a bulk spool. I use the 10 lb by the way.

Plenty of different lines get different reports. That's just how it is. Most harder lines are less than ideal. I'm about to spool up a TW 80 with 8lb Advance mono/copoly. It's really 10lb diameter. I cast out most single filament lines with a heavy bait for the first cast, get it wet, then it usually settles down enough not to be an issue.. It's strong line and I have yet to get bitten off by a pickerel when using it, or broken off fighting a bass in. It feels less stretchy than typical mono, IMO. No real complaints, but I'm using it on casting reels, not spinning reels.

Tried it in a couple of different test strengths - tossed them and bought YZH in those tests.

Casting or spinning, I just have better luck with YZH for copolys - I mean it says right on the box that it's a copolymer...hello...

i used it a bunch last season. it was great until all of a sudden turned into a slinky. no problems with breakage or knot tying though

I tried it and didn't care for it.  I like Elite and Siege oddly enough.  Both have been good lines for me.

I've basically boiled my line selection to four. They've all done well for me and I have no complaints.

Elite

YZH

I've had good luck with Advance. It is a thicker diameter line so I'd suggest getting a size smaller than you'd normally use for your intended use.

I bought a bunch of Sufix Elite and am very happy with it. Pretty soft, no coils, and knot strength is pretty good. Can't speak to the abrasion resistance, haven't had in any major cover.

This was the primary reason it caught my attention.  Standard mono doesn't have great abrasion resistance and I'd like something that has a little more willingness to stand up to teeth.  If it coils up like a slinky after a while, I can live with that if I can get more out of it in the stretch/abrasion category.  Other Sufix lines have been good products so hopefully this follows that reputation.

I am going to try it in 10 or 12 pound low vis green this season.  Thanks for the replies.

i fish around a lot of grass, wood, rock, and zebra mussels. obvious rocks/boulders or zebra mussel can tear up any line, but away from that i didn't experience any issue with abrasion resistance

Buy a size lower than you need. It’s not my favorite but I do use it on occasion. It seems to be less stretchy than McCoys or Big Game. I prefer both over Suffix though.

If your looking for abrasion resistance Sufix tritanium may be worth a look. I bought a spool this winter but have not been able to try it yet. The price is pretty good and tackle tour gave it good marks 20 years ago. Lol.

As far as advance goes, I liked it. Didn't love it or hate it. It certainly is low stretch and memory wasn't terrible. Abrasion resistance seemed pretty good.

Correct. I buy 17lb for replacing 20lb & 14lb for replacing 17lb. It gives great hooksets (low stretch) for a co-poly & the abrasion resistance is pretty good. It's the only mono I take to Mexico.

McCoy is my favorite co-poly by far. i just re-stocked all of my 12lb, 15lb, and 17lb

It's the best mono ever on a baitcaster.

Haha.  Ok, I'll take your word for it!

I tried it and liked it, but I like Trilene XT better. Advance is SLIGHTLY lower stretch than XT, but it ain't the game changer Sufix claims. XT is more abrasion resistant, has less memory, great knot strength and is cheaper.

It seems like there are even more opinions about fishing lines than there are fishing lines. And there are a lot of different lines to try. But I have mostly decided that I like Advance best as a mono, so more than Elite or siege or the various p lines and copolys and monos I have tried. It definitely has less stretch (than elite for example) and seems pretty tough (but not as tough as siege or cxx), while handing pretty well. It did coil up more at the end of last season, so that may mean I may need to change it up once during the summer (which may be normal for a mono).
