I just order fat cat float tube, I was researching a lot about it because I was on market for a boat and finally I came to decision that I still cant have boat because of money(I want to buy brand new boat in cash) and also storage(I dont have a garage), Anyways I research and ask some experts and he swears by it. In my research I understood they have two models, Super Fat Cat VS Fat Cat which super fat cat have inflatable seats over foam seat for fat cat.

I just want to share because it takes me long time to find out the difference :)

The reviews on inflatable seats are not good, Since they air inside will make it harder or loose because of temp change and if you want to fix that you need to back to shore and get out and add air or loose air and go back to water which is so much hassle and also leaks you going to have often on the corner of your seats which in normal foam seats you don't have this issues.

I am waiting for my float tube to be deliver and ill update you guys when I get it. I need help on finding a good fish finder for it as well.

You will not be able to use your inflatable on Castiac or Casitas. The Castaic lagoon maybe a possibility.

Check the regualtions.

Me and my Son, who weighs about 270 lbs both used Fat Cats. Great quality, and awesome customer service. IMHO, the best float tubes out there. Have fun with it. Oh, get some good fins, they make a difference.

Just saw Tom's post. Yes you can use the float tube at the lagoon, they require certain things, so call or check their site.

I used scuba dive fins. They take a bit of effort to get started, but then once you get going, your able to go faster vs using non scuba fins. Might check with a dive shop or maybe Dicks sporting goods.

Congratulations on the new boat @ATA, it’s definitely gonna open up some of your local waters. My first boat was a U shaped Caddis float tube. Good times. And as @Hammer 4 mentioned, diver fins are the way to go. US Diver rocket fins work well and can be found used on eBay for around $30. Some neoprene dive booties to go with some dry waders and you’ll be very comfortable out on the water. Good luck and good fishing!

Is this because of Quaga? Some lakes around me don't allow contact with the water (no swimming) but don't people ski in those two lakes?

Just curious.

I'm still not sure why, but.....

Float Tubes

  • All float tubes require launch permits, which should be displayed in a manner similar to fishing licenses.

  • All persons in float tubes must wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Floatation Devices (PFD’s) at all times.

  • Use of float tubes is restricted to the Castaic Lake Lagoon.

  • Whistles or other sound signaling devices, while not required, ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

  • A 12” x 12” orange square is required on the back of the float tube.

I am so SOOOO glad I grew up when I did. We'd walk, whatever to the local small lake, launch a tiny sailboat, rafts, swim. Can't do any of it now, at least not here.

Most are universal fit due to adjustable straps

If your going to buy the fin's online. I suggest you go to a dive shop, or sporting goods that carries dive fins and ask what size will fit. I had waders with stocking feet, and my fins were size large and I wear a size 11 shoe, all fins are not the same but if you get a pair with adjustable straps the fit will be good.
