I’m currently looking into a new jig rod. Looking at the NRX+ 894c JWR to handle jigs 3/8 to 1/2 oz plus the trailer and bigger t-rigs. The only thing I’m worried about is the lack of   reviews in the NRX+ in this model and if it is tip heavy in the NRX+. I’ve heard that the old NRX 894c JWR was really top heavy to some people. I wonder if they fixed that in the model? I know it’s an NRX and I’m probably bugging out but I’m not trying to regret my decision on a $625 rod.

I'm thinking of getting the exact same rod. I'm going to check it out in person on Saturday, if I manage to get my hands on it, I'll let you know.

Quite honestly, check out the 873CRR for what you are looking to do. I have two of them and with Metanium reels, they balance right at the small bit of cork in front of the reel seat. Light and very good balance.

Different model altogether but I also had a GLX 895 that was so tip heavy it was ridiculous. Promptly returned it.

I Don't believe the 894 is tip heavy. Mine balances just in front of the reel nut with a E7.

The whole tip heavy deal is largely overblown. I will say I thought the 895 was kinda tippy but the 93 and 94 are fine.

The thing is I was trying to put a Metanium MGL on it. It’s 6.3 oz. I’m hoping it would balance because that combo would seem so pleasurable to fish.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't worry about it. That's a great set up, Just go fishin'.

Heck, there's guys making a living fishing with rods I personally wouldn't use for a tomato stake.

It's the Indian not the arrow and a NRX/Met. is more than capable of catching any bass anywhere.

I have a Met on the 904C MBR NRX+ and it doesn't feel tip heavy at all. I always read about people saying the NRX 894C being tip heavy but I think it stems from guys buying the Aldebaran. Which is like putting a finnese real on a power rod, not the ideal set up. I think the Met will be fine on the 894C . It's a great jack of all trades reel.
