Lines in on day one this morning - just happened in fact.

5 good bites a day might be all it takes to win this one

It's any bodies event at this point.

Here we go

It is not surprising to see Neal doing well already. He is an absolute hammer in all tournaments he fishes.

I see a few red cranks being used today. That is going to be a tactic I will employ here on Sunday for my first tournament of the year.

No volume here at work, has anyone said what the water temp is?

Posted

Rob Newel mentioned the anglers saw like 47* temps and were very surprised it was still that cold.

this is almost as exciting as watching paint dry

Edwin dropping the hammer!

That's genius putting the Active Target feed on the console unit so we can watch.

Very Cool ~

But might contribute quite nicely to the low inventory situation.

That's about what I figured it was. I was out last week and it was 47-49. Never saw any 50 degree water and Grand is pretty far North of me. I was wanting to get out this weekend and hoping it would be in the 50's by now.

Seems like they had a bassmaster classic on grand with water temps in the high 30s a few years back and they smashed big fish. Approaching 50 degrees might have the fish on the move/transition and not quite so predictable

After watching that Active Target screen for a while I am convinced that if I had that I would catch the same amount of fish that I do now. I can't tell what is going on LOL

They definitely are not. I have been on the water with mine already, and It it takes a while to figure out casting vs seeing your bait on the Active Target. I could see my jig going up and down very well, when I could find it.

My lipless however, I could not see until I was 15ft in front of the boat, but I think my casting was not accurate.

It call comes down to point and cast in the same spot every time. These pro's Im sure have logged hundreds of hours with them already, and that is why they are good. I am actually surprised I have not see many of the pro's using the new Ghost 360.

I just heard Connell say that a few of his spots are 'blown out'...

I thought wind was good for fishing?

Maybe there is such a thing as 'too much' wind? If so, what is that?

Could mean a couple of things Ryan, to me it means it may have stirred up the water and turned it into chocolate milk or blown in colder water and the bait and fish left for nicer climes.

Day one in the books ~

Decent action.

Plenty of good sticks spread out all over the scoretracker.

Some at the top,  some around the cut line

and unfortunately a few floundering at the bottom.

Expect to see at least one giant in the next day or two.

Yeah I always thought that meant muddied up and/or flooded

yeah... lots of guys LOVE stained water, the fish aren't as fickle. I guess stained isn't good for bed fishing... but stained should be fine for chatterbait/crankbait, etc. I would think the fish would be there feeding in the stained water getting pushed onto the bank.

I’ve seen several of DC YouTube videos where he searched out the muddiest water on the lake so maybe he did mean something else , we will probably find out after the tournament when he puts out a video recap haha

Ironically, the last tourney DC just won, he went to the dam with clean water, because it was too early in the season, and he wanted to find fish that were still feeding up, and not pushing up into the muddy water creeks. Clean water can be fine, you just have to adjust your technique, and a little damiki/dropshot combo did it for DC in the last stage.
