KSanford33 Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Mods, feel free to move this into a more appropriate forum. I got my first Bassmaster magazine in around 30 years today. I distinctly remember a comic on the back page that was about these two hicks (Charlie and something, I think). When did they do away with that? Quote
Super User Solution Team9nine Posted March 22, 2022 Super User Solution Posted March 22, 2022 From Bassmaster: The somewhat fictional characters were the stars of the longest-running feature in BassmasterMagazine — “The Adventures of Harry ’n’ Charlie” — lasting from their debut in the July 1971 issue through most of 2006. The feature lived on in digital form on Bassmaster.com into 2010, but somehow the dateline of Swampgas Corners didn’t quite fit its new online environment. 1 1 Quote
Chris Catignani Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Harry and Charlie was written by Don Wirth and illustrated by Cliff Shelby. Don is actually in the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame. Don Wirth - The Bass Fishing Hall Of Fame (bassfishinghof.com) 1 Quote
Captain Phil Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 I loved Harry and Charlie. They poked fun at bass fishermen and bass clubs. They fished out of an old Jon boat towed in the back of an old truck. I believe it was called "Old Stump Jumper". There were rivalries and secret spots galore. This was right around the time when high performance bass boats came on the scene and they were always competing with the rich dude in the club. Harry's wife was a piece of work too. Given today's PC Woke world, I doubt they would gain much traction today. To get the joke, you had to be there. 2 Quote
