What are spooling your Curado BFS or whatever BFS reel you have with braided line?

I have 15/4 Power Pro. Should I drop to 10/2 or 8/1 PP?

I've heard 8-10 lb for braid and 4-6 for fluoro

I would ask myself what size lure I planned to use and what rod I was going to use, that information means more to me than the reel used.

10 general purpose. If you are going ultralight lures, go down to six as every bit counts. I think 6lb PP or Suffix is equivalent diameter to 20lb JDM fancy lines.

@bulldog1935 is the resident guru on BFS. Maybe he'll weigh in and share some pics of his amazing gear as well.

Well, I don't have a Curado, but have BFS spools on Daiwa, ZPI, and Ambassadeur - I also don't know anything about Power Pro (except watching it ball up on buddy's old Penn spinning reel).

Jun Sonada at JapanTackle is the smartest baitcaster guy around.   He recommends PE#1 as the smallest line to use on a baitcaster = 0.16 mm diameter.

He also recommends using hard-coat braids - both recommendations are to avoid line dig.

That said, I'm using PE#0.8 to #1.2 X-braid on my BFS shallow spools, everything from UL stream fishing to inshore MH.

The new Daiwa Zillion PE Special is reported to be rated down to PE# 0.4, which is 0.10 mm dia.

here's the Japan Line Size chart

Jun would approve of this Ambassadeur, (Momo shallow spool, Valleyhill LW parts, Avail mag brake), the braid is PE#1 cost-effective Yamatoyo Resin Sheller hardcoat.

I’ve got a scorpion bfs with an ultra rod for “true” bfs lures with 6# fluoro, and a curado bfs with a medium light rod for bass finesse. 8# fluoro on that. In MY experience I’ve always had better performance from the fluorocarbon  lines. My question is, do you guys use leaders on your braids, if not, have you noticed any decrease in bites?

Always in clear sunny water. I go to 4# Mono & barbless hooks !!!   The fish bite & hook up much more.

BUUT   The fish can get the barblees hook out in less than a minute.  Have had my Rapalas float to surface quickly.

Price is a bit high on that one.  If a black zillion is what you're after then get the 2022 HD.  Its a zillion but black with a magforce Z boost spool instead of an sv boost.  No us release yet but why would anyone pay the markup they charge anyways.  Buy JDM.

The color isn't a thing for me at all. I already have a standard Zillion G. The fast level wind and brake tuning is what's attractive about the PE Special.

PE#1.2, which is 27-lb test in Duel X-wire - line has never dug in, inshore ML niche and more than a year of slot- and near-slot redfish.

I'm running #0.8 on my Calcutta Conquest BFS and Alphas CT with the AMO spool.  Those are my creek reels.  Additionally, I run 4 carrier on those due to the wood and leaves in the water.  With my Millionaire CT and other Alphas CT, both of which have the SLP SV700S spool, I'm running #1.0 8 carrier for use on the bigger main streams.  Some of the rivers I fish have big browns, coho, Atlantics, and steelhead and the thicker line helps, especially with the cohos and Atlantics that can really peel line when the water temp is in their goldilocks zone.  For leader material, I'm usually using 5lb or 8lb Maxima Ultragreen.
