FishinBoddy Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 I am thinking about buying a minn Kota terrova with i-pilot comes with the spot-lock pedal and wanted to know if I need to be able to pair with my hummingbird fishfinder unit or not Quote
Super User GaryH Posted March 22, 2022 Super User Posted March 22, 2022 Are you asking if you need a Humminbird FF for it to work? If that’s your question then the answer is no. The Terrova with spot lock with I pilot can operate on its own Are you asking if you need a Humminbird FF for it to work? If that’s your question then the answer is no. Super User slonezp Posted March 22, 2022 Super User Posted March 22, 2022 You would need an Ipilot Link to pair with a graph. The standard Ipilot will not. Quote

Super User GaryH Posted March 23, 2022 Super User Posted March 23, 2022 The I pilot works great without the link. Your spot lock, nav feature, jog feature all work. If you discover you want the added features of circle jog, contour following, waypoints etc. You can also purchase the I pilot link from Humminbird to add to your Terrova. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted March 23, 2022 Super User Posted March 23, 2022 The main advantage of Link is it allows you to use the Bird as another way to control the motor. Lets say you're idling around looking for fish. You mark a waypoint. You can now deploy the trolling motor and it will return you to the waypoint and anchor you on top of it. You can also set up a track of waypoints and the motor will follow them. While you are able to do this without Link, you are limited to waypoints whereas you have something like 10,000 when using the graph. Lastly, the follow the contour feature allows you, in conjunction with Lakemaster, to set a specific depth from the contour lines and follow it. It's well worth the extra money. Quote
