Super User Popular Post WRB Posted March 19, 2022 Super User Popular Post Posted March 19, 2022 I believe that bass anglers over look details more then trout anglers for example trout have microscopic vision that require paying attention to detail. So do adult size bass! We have a good cross section of members on this site that range from beginners to experienced pro level anglers. We also have a site owner that shares his detailed knowledge via videos, thank you Glenn?. Fisherman as a rule like to be secretive and seek detailed information via PM’s and that is understandable. If you look at Catt’s posts over the 17 years or so Tommy has been a member the one thing that stands out is his detailed replies, very specific information to help everyone catch more bass, he isn’t self promoting or pushing any brands. Next time you are going fishing think about all the small details that may make a difference; fresh line, smooth drag, perfect tied knots, sharp hooks, what is the prey the bass are eating, wind direction, sun location, depth, cover, structure and stay focused, details matter. Super User Team9nine Posted March 19, 2022 Super User Posted March 19, 2022 Neither here nor there on the subject, but I immediately thought of this BBZ/Siemantel statement when I saw the title and read your post: "Remember this and remember you heard it in the Big Bass Zone because this is the motto we live by: EVERYTHING MATTERS, YET NOTHING MATTERS. If you've made a good presentation and a big bass is locked in, NOTHING MATTERS. A fish will swim through a wall of fire to eat your bait. If things aren't quite right, EVERYTHING MATTERS. Now you should start thinking about the details - things like crouching down as the bait approaches your boat or the shoreline, shadows, bait tuning, line diameter, lure speed, cadence, directional changes or anything else that just might affect your success." Super User PhishLI Posted March 19, 2022 Super User Posted March 19, 2022 And sometimes nothing you do matters. Look at Jason Christie. He just won the Classic last week, and now he's out of Santee Copper with just one fish caught on day 1 for 93rd place. 4 Quote

Tom Don't sell yourself short, Tom. I've learned a lot from your posts as well. You, Tommy and Glenn are my 'go to guys' for in-depth information. Others like Brian (@Team9nine), Kent (@roadwarrior), and others also dole out information that makes it easier to determine the 'when/where/why/how' of catching bass regularly. 1 2 Quote

Yup, Time on the water while fishing for anything will carry over into other types of fishing. Bass guys are some of the worst at believing that their fishing is somehow different, separate, or more challenging than "other" fishing, often to their detriment. 4 Quote
ironbjorn Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 Knots are my biggest OCD. When a knot just won't stop crinkling the line I keep cutting and will eventually use a heavy dose of KVD to make sure it tightens perfectly without messing up my line. PTSD from the crap known as fluoro I'm sure. 3 Quote

My fishing buddy who recently passed away was extremely good at finding large panfish. When he got tired of chasing bass he would switch to perch jerking. Once he found them he never understood why I continued catching bass in the area as the panfish. He never understood the bass were there to feed on panfish. 1 Quote
CrashVector Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 That's part of fishing I enjoy. I'm VERY VERY picky about the small details. I find it relaxing tbh...making sure everything is just-so. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 20, 2022 Super User Posted March 20, 2022 Details are important but I would rather use a spinnerbait with wrong blades and color but correct weight than one with the right blades , color and wrong weight .Weight is a detail too . 1 Quote

If the bass have stopped biting during the heat of the summer, maybe it's time get a little unconventional. I'll put a Senko or a Gulp minnow under a bobber and drag it slowly along docks Last summer my grandson hooked a 14" bass on his Spiderman pole while we were fishing for gills. His PB. I've never seen him so excited. "He's going to pull me in! He's going to pull me in!" he kept screaming. The bass was caught on a small piece of nightcrawler on a #2 long shank Eagle Claw hook. A smart man would absorb that information and go smaller and slower with the presentation. 12 Quote

I agree 100%...I don't think enough anglers take weight into account. Depth control and fall rate are 2 of the most important details in my opinion...often times trumping lure color and type. 2 Quote

Lol And I've honed in my offshore bass fishing because of walleye fishing. It's no mistake I catch bass when walleye fishing and no mistake I catch bass while panfishing. It's also no mistake that I catch walleye, pike, catfish, and panfish while bass fishing. An ecosystem is still an ecosystem. Bass cannot survive and flourish without the other fish. Everybody works together. Pay attention to all the fish in the lake, not just your target species. I might be an average to slightly above average bass angler but, I am well rounded with all species of fish in my home water(s). It's not about fishing "spots" as those can change weekly, daily, and hourly different influences. Nature is fascinating and just as predictable as it is unpredictable. 4 Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 I couldn't agree more! I'm OCD about the details. Quote
MAN Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Thats why I stopped drinking and fishing at the same time. My attention to detail falls dramatically. That can be anything from not using the right bait color to standing on the bank and casting into car traffic instead of the water. Quote
