Now I have to get up an hour earlier to make stand before daylight. I say just leave it be. That was my dad's complaint too. Doesn't really affect my fishing much tho. I just don't like losing an hour of sleep when I only get 4-5 hours between two 16 hour shifts. 1 Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted March 19, 2022 Super User Posted March 19, 2022 I’m gonna try switching to Greenwich Mean Time to see if it helps my fishing. I’ll let you know how it goes. ? 6 Quote

When I'm fishing northern Quebec or Ontario in July or August it says light enough at 9:30PM to "still be able so see my surroundings." Not so much here in PA. Is it the same for ND? They look about the same latitude. Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 I’d fish a lot more after work! I hate those 4 pm sunsets Quote

Even the end of July, it's still around 9:15 Course the other side of the Solstice - it's around May 19 when twilight ends around 9:15 This year - May 8 through August 9, twilight ends 9pm or later. 1 Quote

I had a speedboat and joined the Penn Warner Club in Morrisville so i could fish and water ski. Its a man made lake owned by waste management and as you may know its right across from the huge waste management dump. I kept my boat moored in the bay and instead of using the clubs dingy to get to it i would just swim out to it. I always had to clean chicken bones off the deck because of the dump the seagulls would pick up scraps of human food, usually chicken and fly over and sit on my enclosed bow and eat. Some days the place would really smell bad depending on wind direction from the dump. 2 Quote
fin Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 I fish in a State park that opens at 7:00 AM year-round. Part of the year, like right now, that’s great, it means they open almost an hour before sunrise, but by the middle of June, the sun is up an hour before they open, which drives me crazy. When DST is made year-round, that will mean the park would open almost two hours before sunrise in January if they stick to the same opening time. I’m thinking they’ll change the opening time, and it scares me to think what they might do. They may change it to opening at “sunrise”, or something like that. They now close at “sundown”, which I hate, because it’s fuzzy, not clear. To the fisherman, that means pitch dark, to the park personnel, that means when the sun gets near the horizon. Or they might change it to 8:00 year-round. Whatever they do, it will likely be whatever is best for their benefit, not the benefit of all the people that visit the park. So it’s unlikely that the change can possibly benefit my fishing. Quote

Some members wouldnt swim in it or eat the fish. Quote

Right now swimming is prohibited but it is for safety reasons not pollution but people do swim. They ask everyone to return game fish like bass and pike but to take pan fish and sneakheads. I have eaten sneakhead from Manor and it was good. It tasted very much like walleye. 1 Quote
