NeroXyn Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Took a screenshot from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Gj-40df1V0&t=302s I used to see this in my former favorite pond, but I couldn't figure out if this is any kind of shiner or a baby bass. Quote

Fallser Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 It's not a black nose dace. They're a stream fish, not a pond or lake fish, and they're not found west of the Mississippi . It's some sort of shiner. Your local fish and game commission could probably tell you what sort of shiner/minnow they are. Quote

Finessegenics Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 May be able to find some answers on https://www.roughfish.com/species. It’s not an extensive list by any means but it’s a good place to start 1 Quote

I did to the the extend where i stretched out from CA wildlife to Arizona. I find wildlife.ca.gov wasn't really that comprehensive (unless I miss something) - the only relevant article I found were just about black bass and some other species that are either native or non-native, invasive or non-invasive. 5 hours ago, Finessegenics said: May be able to find some answers on https://www.roughfish.com/species. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 23, 2022 Global Moderator Posted March 23, 2022 Did someone stock/manage it? Fathead minnows can have a black stripe on their side and are often used to supplement the food supply in ponds/lakes. Quote
allpurposedw Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Nice one. Some look to be "Arroyo Chub". Quote

Park is organized by the county. There have been major park overhauls around the city to deal with very poor park hygienes. I don't think the pond itself is designated for fishing, so information for that is very limited. Also, who even fishes in the middle of the most cogested city (me )? Quote
cyclops2 Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 All are POSSIBLY the young of the LMB staying guard at the nest site. That sunfish is trying to decide to risk a attack on the kids in the neighborhood. Quote
