Good afternoon. I purchased a curado bfs with the intention for using as a true bfs reel.
I came across a medium light casting rod on eBay for a good price, figured I’d try it. Needless to say it sucked for true bfs lures

(unlike my Max Steel paired with the scorpion bfs). But it is phenomenal for Neds, drop shots, anything I would use my spinning set up for, and then some, and with greater distance. The action is also perfect for jerk baits and 1.0 and 1.0 square bills. Has anyone else had any experience with medium light casting rods? I’m curious to know.

Yes, I have a lot of experience with ML casting rods -- what's your question? I also have the Curado BFS.

Have you replaced your spinning set up entirely with this combo?

ML, Light, and Ultralight casting rods, with quality BFS reels, have allowed me to completely eliminate spinning rigs from my arsenal.  I no longer use spinning gear at all.

Yes sir. I’m heading that way myself. I still use my spinning set up every now and then, but bait casters are way more efficient.

Check out Phenix Feather light and medium light casting rods. I prefer the Light for bfs... I can throw down to 1/16th oz hair jigs. Works well for Neds too. I use the ML for small tubes, shakey heads, etc.

I use the max steel for true bfs and my ml for the rest.

I just got the curado bfs and curado ml rod. Probably going to look for a better bfs rod but for the time being, going to try that put.

The Phenix K2 Torzite ML/F is an excellent, lightweight rod.  Also check the vendors that sell JDM tackle for a wider selection of Shimano Poison Adrena casting rods.

Thanks to your previous posts on these rods I have both, and I'm really enjoying them. I have a Curado BFS on the L, and a MGL 70 on the ML. They have replaced my spinning rods for bass fishing.

These Feathers have a great taper. They have a fast tip, but when fighting a fish they load clear back into the butt section more like a mod fast. Absolutely perfect IMO. Good chance I'll end up with a second ML. Thanks again for your reviews on them FryDog.

Come to think of it, your line stretch tests were a help to me back before I even joined here. I appreciate ya brother.

I have the previous black model Carbonlite 6'6" medium light casting model. I don't use it for true BFS but it's a fun little rod for lighter crankbaits and topwaters like a Tiny Torpedo or small Pop'R.

I keep a folded 6' ln the trunk & a medium freezer Zip Lock bag as a back up tackle bag. Split shot, hooks & 2 Rapalas.  All I need.

Funny, how I have ordered and tested some other bfs rods as a comparison to the Phenix Feather L and ML. I thought I would add a third rod of a different brand to have another option, or find something better. I haven't and some of the rods were a good margin more expensive, but I returned them. If I had the bones, the next rod I would get is the Phenix K2 Torzite... but honestly its very similar in weight/taper ratings to the 7'1" Light Feather. Might be hard to justify since it costs nearly 4 times as much, can't be 4 times as good - right?  Well, I keep telling myself that anyway - bait monkey go away!
