rsagebrush Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Does anyone have some recommendations on a super tuning service. I have tried contacting DVT several times in the last week but no response, is he still in business. DVT has done exceptional service for me in the past though, perhaps he is a victim of his own success and is too busy, sick or out on vacation. Quote

Mike's still around - he's even posted here a couple times the past few days. Try sending him a PM, or tagging him in a post. Quote

Some newer reels really won't benefit from a super tune and new spool bearings. The pinion gears and main gears are so well made now, it's hard to improve them. For example the new Curado K comes smooth and polished as is but go back to the Curado G and this reel improves greatly with a super tune and some high end spool bearings. The question is.... Is the reel you have worth the cost of getting it done and will it benefit from it? Quote

I’ll check my Pam folder. In the meantime call me: 973-459-2835 mike 56 minutes ago, FishTank said: What reel are wanting to super tune? I won’t do/charge for anything that’s not appropriate or beneficial. 4 Quote

I've got a brand new one, still in bubble wrap, and was planning on doing a few little upgrades to it. Quote

I had it for a years before I changed the spool bearings, maybe the pinion support bearing (which was not necessary) and polished the main and pinion gear. I cleaned/degreased the anti-reverse bearing and re-oiled it. I also added new carbontex drag washers. It casted further, felt smoother, and the drag felt a little stronger. Overall, I was pleased with how it came out and it was a noticeable difference. I don't use it as often I should anymore but it still works great. 1 Quote

I used ABEC 7 Boca's for the spool bearings (non orange shield). 1 Quote
